Results of playing BG how Kabam intend

WhiteKnightWhiteKnight Member Posts: 643 ★★★

So, this is a result of me getting into GC within week 1, building up, facing very skilled players with fairly sizable rosters; I think i reached a little over 350 points and was sat at 7000 points within realm.

About 3/4 days ago I discovered that Kabam have no issue with farming within GC, so I tanked my score down near on zero and began facing much smaller accounts, easily winning and my points shot up. 3 weeks to get 7k and I finished 10.1k thanks to a few days of tanking and beating smaller accounts.

This is clearly how Kabam want GC to be played, the competitiveness of facing off against players of similar size/skill isn't being rewarded; this is.

I didn't enjoy farming points, I enjoy facing off against challenging opponents but this season has highlighted how Labam want the complete opposite.

Bero, Traps & Lagacy said it perfect, those lost rewarded are those who finish the lowest and spend the most; is this really how you want GC to be played? BGs, the most competitive game mode in mcoc no longer competitive

Will you continue this strategy now the Realm Event has ended?

Potentially, I put up about 750k for allaince which helped nicely so hoping that gets us top 1% and I imagine solo event would be easier to rank higher than realm.

Ultimately, I get more rewards this way but do miss out on the trophy tokens... that being said they don't have much value since BG store is getting an update anytime soon

    Congratulations on your sportsmanship.

Unfortunately, it's how Kabam wanted it to be done. I had a decent win rate higher up but I tilted, lost a few, wasted time, elders marks but in Uru that wasn't a thing so much more value
Unfortunately, you made a choice to do that. Gaslighting to blame Kabam when you blatantly abused the system is not only ignorant, but reflective of a skill issue. Git gud.
It's not abusing the system at all, Kabam openly told content creators there's zero issue with this.

The way they give the rewards means this the best way to maximise reward

Does your alliance as a whole feel the same? Do you think this is occurring frequently with other alliances?

I imagine across BG focused it is, they have minimums of 400/500k and its not easy to do that every month especially if you're pushing higher too

@peixemacaco how many points did you put up?

After 5000 milestones and seeing that all milestones till the end stopped at 5000, i just played to get the banquet tickets and after this to progress to Vibranium.

    So...more or less than 5300 👍

    And you, Omega Summoner?

There's a difference between "how it was intended" and "how it ended up"

Lagacy's video covered it very well - the rewards needed to be significantly adjusted to better encourage positive play, but it's nigh on impossible to entirely predict human behaviour and people are always going to find loopholes and ways of doing things contrary to how it was planned (for better or for worse).

If you draw a line in the sand, there will almost always be examples on either side of the line that SOMEONE thinks should be on the other side.

If you design a fool-proof system, then someone will quickly discover a way to game that system that technically still fits within the rules while completely defying the intended spirit. Such is life.

I understand this completely, maybe this wasn't intended but we have seen with previous bonus months how people will farm so this was always going to be the same and Kabam did nothing to alter.

Something like 1000 points per 1 point that you finished in GC with would have made a huge difference and would have forced people to push higher rather than farming.

Honestly I don't see it as a big deal. I play this game to have fun, so when I was in GC fighting accounts with 15 to 20 7* r3s, I didn't play seriously at all because I know I wasn't going to win. I took fights serious that were an even playing field or I had advantage.

Pushing and farming have two completely different costs and outputs. If you farm, yeah you rank higher at the end for solo event, but that's way more hours and time of your life wasted to constantly lose than win rather than just playing through. Pushing gives better league rewards for less time compared to farming. At the end of the day, intended or not, it is how you value your life and your time. Farming just seems like a waste considering the rewards are not that good but on par with pushing, so it's the same for less time. I doubt the people that didn't want to push who value their time switched to farming like you.

Depending on where you are in GC, the reason for that was more than likely bigger accounts choosing to stay low and farm. If there was proper incentive to finisher higher in GC then they would be above your level and you would be facing people your level/size

I just wish they'd make up their minds. They tell everyone it's a bannable offense to farm, then tell content creators it's ok and won't enforce their own rules.

Farming has always plagued BGs and instead of rewarding more points towards events like these for beating higher ranked players similar to how GC is scored, they continue creating the perfect environment to stifle competitive play and anger smaller accounts so all we hear is how matchmaking is unfair to smaller players. And they're completely validated in their disdain for BGs if they're constantly going against 7r3 maestros with 6r1 champs.

As long as people buy elders and units to farm, they'll continue perpetuating this model because it is clearly profitable. Despite the community complaints from smaller players who don't/won't spend on the game mode, the alliances who farm for millions every season to get top 10 spend considerable amounts to remain in the top 10. And let's be honest, it's for clout, not the paltry rewards.

While BGs is indeed in a broken state, it's still far more enjoyable than AQ or AW imo, so it's where I spend the majority of my MCOC time.

That's wrong completely unfortunately, it is actually less time consuming to farm at least at the top end... Good players can tank down to zero and basically take guaranteed wins until they tank again, tanking itself maybe 10 minutes? Where as with pushing, a lose requires 2 matches to replace the points that a win would get, twice the effort, more time and at the top top end you could be waiting for 5, 10, 30 minutes for a match

This is too true, and there's such simple fixes.

Something like, awarding more points for wins in higher tiers so a win in Gamma is worth 1.5x as much in Uru, a win in Celestial is worth 5x a win in Gamma etc would mean you push high because a win at your own level is worth much more than a win at low tier.

They do this in war, a t2 loss earns more points than a t3 win. Why can't they just do the same for BG? It's so so simple

What’s the minimum amount of points you have to get to be eligible for rank rewards?

they said it was a bannable offense to farm in VT, Gc was fine, and someone from kabam confirmed that even then.
