I’m unfortunately in the same boat as you cause I returned to the game halfway through deathless guillotine. Guess we’ll just have to miss out on the first t7b.

Even while away, I made sure to claim the mail one’s, leading me to have 2 for gully, 1 for she hulk, 1 for vision, and 1 for dkg, meaning I should be able to get all of them besides she hulk right ? Which I don’t care for her or thanos, I kinda just want dkg but might as well claim the other two if I can.

My main issue is that I started playing the game after Gully was done. So I am missing all the pieces (even the free ones). It would be great if there was a way for people that started after that to obtain the free ones for free like everyone else, but I understand if they don't give that option. In the end, they don't have to.

You also don't get access to rewards from old side quests and event quests. The deathless champions are a reward for long term play

It’s completely different tho, fair enough if it was just them champs but now you need to have them to get thanos and then use all of them to get even more rewards including the 1st t7b available. Basically punishing newer players and others who can’t grind all year around due to other commitments etc.
I’ve got all of them too but they should be available again in form challenges maybe with extra rewards for those already with them instead
It's not different at all. You don't HAVE to have deathless thanos, he's a reward for long term play. If you're playing the game the 6 star versions can be achieved with a bit of grinding and if you haven't then you don't need to worry about getting them.

The point is that it's not essential in the same way that old eq rewards aren't essential and if you weren't around to grind for the rewards then you don't get them. I missed out on deathless kg 7 star because I missed a point on the first spring of suffering boss which sucks but cest la vie

It’s not the same at all, miss EQ you’re not getting punished a few months later with not being able to get end game rewards
It's the same thing just spread over a longer period. Those rewards are for consistent engagement over a year, the point is Moot if they say its rewards for yearly commitment but also if not you can just get them later. At the end of the day it's a champion that you don't need to get

Those previous deathless pieces and champs were "end game" rewards back then. Which bring us to the current end game.

I understand both arguments. It does seem somewhat punitive to newer players that had no opportunity to get the same pieces as older players (especially the free pieces). If it was something that you need for end game content it would be nice if they were in permanent content. It feels unfair to newer players who are already regularly doing end game content. With that said, it was a long term system from the beginning when announced and can reward longer term players. So I also totally understand forcing newer players to buy the pieces instead of giving a way to earn them. I don't think there is going to be a way to allow newer players to earn the pieces that will not make longer term players upset. I personally wouldn’t mind, but I could see some longer term players being upset. Unfortunately, it appears newer players will have to pay a considerable amount of units for the missing pieces.

The only “fair” way I could see is possibly giving some type of challenge that offers older pieces. If you already have them then completing said content would give you titan shards or something to that affect. Then everyone is happy. That would be a happy medium where newer players could earn older pieces and long term players still gain something at the same time. That would involve Kabam planning ahead in a very limited amount of time so, In the end, newer players may just have to deal with coughing up 5000k units per piece. That could be just part of joining the game at a later date.

I would love to hear from @kabam crashed or @kabam Mike , or any @kabam employee on their take on the subject.

theres also no gaurentee that the deathless thanos peice is 1/6 objectives needed for the t5b. no different than any deathless dupe in AoA, WoW, SoS. the deathless objectives were “bonus points” so if i had to speculate. the maestro dupe, (assuming the t7b) milestone/carinas will be do 5/5 of the necro based carina’s challenges

I'd have no problem with them awarding the 7* pieces of you do the deathless challenge with all 6r2 or 6r1 deathless champions. I'd even approve the giving out of rank down tickets for deathless champs for those who have already ranked them up.

You answered your own question though, you don't need them for end game content so they're inessential
  • The_Curd_BrosThe_Curd_Bros Member Posts: 149
@WednesdayLength They are technically inessential. That is correct. However, to compete at the top end of the game it is very beneficial to have all champions that are obtainable. It is what it is. If you are a newer players (within a year or so) you just don't have the deathless pieces. However, there is a way to obtain them (albeit an expensive one). If there ends up being another way that would be great, but at this point there still is a way to get them if you weren't playing so it's still possible. I am fairly sure that is the stance Kabam will take as well.

It’s not the same and no you didn’t just get for playing the game long term, there’s lots of content, people play the game and choose where to do the grind, if someone chooses to do act 9 and bg over getting deathless guillotine pieces because they don’t care to get her they want r3 material instead, if kabam had stated at the time in the future you’ll need all of them to get the 1st r4 material then players would of focused on that instead. It’s nothing like missing out EQ, you choose to do so. If kabam announced in November that they were releasing a new tier of EQ with top rewards but it was only available if you had 100% every TB EQ all year to unlock it, that would be a fair comparison

Would a simple like this work for both side of players.

Kabam leave it for about 6 months to a year, then put out an offer (either in Store or a Bundle in 4th July /Black Friday), where players can buy the 7 pieces and then do the Carina Challenges.

So for players that have done all of the ingame stuffs and able to get Thanos in Jan would get 6 to 12 months of exclusive.

And players that are new or missed out, will be able to Thanos later, a bit costly but at least still get the chance to get all the Deathless champs.

Kabam get a bit more income from the Deathless champs.

Win, win, win for all 3 parties.

Never said it was exclusively a reward for playing the game and nothing else, it's about long term engagement with multiple game modes. I completed and explored act 8 and 9.1 whilst doing the deathless grind and I'm not even a super super end game player.

Saying not getting deathless thanos is the equivalent of not having access to a future eq difficulty is an insane argument by the way. Deathless Thanos looks like a great character, but by no means essential. The only thing you won't be able to do if you don't have him is dupe him.

They said from the jump that DT would be a great champion and that if you want him you need to compete all the objectives. The point of the deathless characters was to increase engagement throughout the year, the same way the double track passes do. The point is that if you weren't playing at the start of the deathless hunt and miss out then yeah that sucks, but thanos is just a reward for putting in the work. If you started playing half way through a calendar and miss out on the last few rewards then yeah that sucks, but it doesn't mean you can't progress nor does it mean you're severely behind everyone else.

Thanos isn't essential, he's a reward for putting effort into lots of areas of the game. It would massively devalue him if they made it easy to catch up so soon after he's first available and quite frankly would also kill any chance that something like this would work again since people would just wait for a less intensive way of getting him.

While I agree that Kabam doesn't have to do anything for players like myself, I disagree with the last statement. I can play any content and can compete at any level of the game and I was not able to get all the pieces. My account is 6 mil, 27.7k prestige. I have only done one path on necro, but could do the rest. I have 33 rank 3 7* champs. It is definitely possible to be able to compete at the hardest content and not be able to have access to all of the deathless champs (if you are a spender of course). That only matters if you want to compete in high end war and high end BGs though. Really once you reach a certain level (like you said), you can complete all of the content released in the game if you don't want to play in masters/high platinum war and celestial ranked BGs. I personally don't compete in masters war or celestial BGs, but do enjoy the hard content.

I didn't have access to gully and also a few of the deathless groot pieces. I started the game approximately a year ago. So at that time I couldn't do the SOS with the roster I had. But I can say it is possible to have a great roster, be able to play the game very well, and also not be able to obtain the pieces needed for Thanos. However, it is very rare outside of spending on the game for sure. I was also lucky to have lived through the poolie event, the valentines event, july 4th, the cyber monday deals, and now banquet all in my first year playing the game.

However, I still do agree that Kabam doesn't have to do anything for players like myself. It appears they were fairly honest that it would be a long process and that it rewards long term game play.

@WednesdayLength I am a bit confused. I was disagreeing with your assertion that a player that doesn’t have all of the deathless pieces can’t compete in high end content, not about the pieces themselves.

My stance is that Kabam was up front at the beginning about the process and doesn’t need to do anything for newer players like myself. While I would love to have an opportunity to get said pieces in some way without spending 25k+ units, I don’t think Kabam has any obligation to offer the older pieces outside of selling them. I have said this multiple times throughout the discussion. It feels like you are trying to make a disagreement out of agreement. Either way, I agree with you on this topic, that’s how it rolls. I wish you the best.

@Herbal_Taxman . Yes. I am a spender though. My account is The_Curd_Bros if you want to check it out.

@AverageDesi - I think that is the plan. Offering an alternative way to get the pieces at a much later date. That seems fair to me so ftp and newer players can get the pieces and the older players have time to have thanos before others because they earned it. I agree with your take and I think Kabam has a similar plan (without speaking for them of course).
