Yeah there is. There are nexuses and even abyss nexuses. Truly, not in a rude way, to get the champs u want, git gud. You can easily get most champs either as a 5 star or 6 star as a valiant

The game is not greedy, at least not in that way. The game is not the kind of game where you can choose whichever champ you want and just get it. Every game has to support itself somehow, and different games support themselves in different ways, but all of them have to choose what is easy to do and what is hard to do, because you can only monetize the stuff that is hard to do. In this game, what is hard to do, what requires a lot of chase, is collecting specific champions.

There are games where you can basicallly build whatever you want, and then the hard stuff involved what you do with it. In those games, you maybe could try to simply target your favorite champ and have a relatively easy and/or cheap path to get it. This is just not that kind of game.

Also, if you genuinely do not care about strength (a lot of people say that but don’t really mean it) it is easier to collect lower rarity champs - i.e. the star tier. It is very difficult and expensive (or time consuming) to collect 7* champs, but less so for 6* champs and much easier to collect 5* and 4* champs. If all you want to do is collect your favorite champ(s), you will likely get them at lower rarities sooner than at higher ones. In the long run, it isn’t hard: most players who play long enough eventually collect basically all released champs, just at lower rarity.

Who is the champ your trying to get. When the arena comes up for that champ, you can a 3-4 star easily.

You will get your favourite champions. Just keep collecting crystals and open them all once a week for a higher chance. It's how I get my champions mixed with both positive and not-favourite/playerable🙌.

Also, the game isn't greedy😅. In my opinion. Its very balanced game in a lot of weeks.

Actually most gotcha games don't have a pity system. At least notary of the ones I've played. One of the champs your looking for is scream. She's not in basic crystals yet so you gotta wait. Carnage though is. Keep opening dual class crystals with cosmic/tech and you'll eventually get him.

Honestly, if you really enjoy playing a champ just because of being a certain character, you wouldn't mind playing them in content you don't need to clear, just playing them is enough. That's what I personally do. I autofight apothecary most of the time, but sometimes play it with infamous ironman just cause I wanna play him feeling like nothing can stand in my way or spider-man because I wanna feel like an experienced superhero that casually beats these characters. Use your 3* Carnage in apothecary and well, enjoy the carnage!

MCOC is not a greedy game, but rather one of the most complicated games I've played compared to others. To get your favorite characters, there are many things you need to do, but all of these can be obtained for free. What you need is patience, and you have to always stay updated on where your favorite characters can be found. If your goal is to obtain your favorite character, it can be difficult because this game is rank-based. You need to level up characters that suit the nodes and quests, and earn rewards to unlock them. The idea that the game is greedy is really not true. Yes, MCOC needs money to continue running, but it's worth noting that about 70% of the rewards in the game can be earned for free. Thank you

It takes time, and sometimes hundreds of crystals opened.
I'm still hunting for a 6* Heimdall, to this day.
I'm also hunting for a 2* Odin, but 2* are even harder to come by because I don't believe he's in PHC, so just special 2* crystals.

The more crystals you open, the more likely you are to get the champs you want. It's a friend, but at least it's a fun grind!

According to Netmarble's Q3 2024 earnings report MCOC accounted for $36 million (USD conversion from KRW) in Q3, or an average of $12m a month. That's down from Q2 earnings and year over year Q3 2023.

Shop Titans, their only other in-house offering, costs less and they don't have to cut a check to Disney/Marvel, so there's that.

Not that the disagree flag is always on the mark, but in this case the flags might be expressing the idea that if you are trying to get a champ Right Now then of course a basic crystal and a nexus crystal are both highly unlikely to land on the specific champ you want, and thus are both equally unhelpful, but the very notion that you can or ever will be able to do that all the time is itself completely misguided. This game is about the long term chase, and in the long term crystals that offer three shots at a champ are three times more valuable; they are three times more likely to drop the champ you want. Eventually basic crystals will drop the champ you want, but nexus crystals are much more likely to do so.

Or to put it another way, if you think nexus crystals are no help, you’re playing the game wrong.
