Kabam's Banquet: The Ultimate Mystery Event

It’s December 17th, and still, no word on the banquet that’s supposed to kick off on the 20th. Maybe Kabam is planning to surprise us with a "Guess the Rewards" mini-event before the actual banquet. Who knows?

Meanwhile, Summoners are refreshing their news tabs like it’s a professional sport. But hey, who needs communication when you’ve got… umm… hope?

Let’s give Kabam some space. Maybe they’re testing a new reward system called “Invisible Milestones”—where you can’t see the rewards or the event. Revolutionary stuff

I'm curious why people feel a need to know what banquet has to offer when things like Cyber weekend and J4 don't really tell us in advance what we will get either.

Maybe because it used to be that way always? They revealed banquet details days before the event previous year, but for cyber and j4, they always revealed it on the day of the offer.

Likely because Kabam used to announce banquet info ahead of time. There was an expectation that this year would be the same. Expectations were violated. Complaining followed. I don't care either way, but I get it.

I guess people might want to plan alliance changes based on capacity to reach rewards.

Kabam has a long held tradition of not doing the same thing every time. Very little is actually that consistent, and really any consistency only revolves around things that happen according to a calendar. So expecting Kabam to post the banquet rewards with a timing that matches anything previously is an expectation that sets players up for disappointment. Players failed themselves by having an expectation that Kabam would do the exact same thing they did before.

With that said, it would be great to know what is going to go down. It won't change anything, but if they could release details 2 weeks ahead last year, then it is reasonable and fair to assume they could do the same this year, especially considering the details have probably been finalized for several weeks, maybe even a few months at this point. Either they've shifted their timing, want to hold things closer to the chest, or it's another 2024 flop in communication.

Is it an always thing? If they have always, every single year, released banquet info earlier, then sure I could understand it. If always means, last year they did it but they never really did it before last year, then I don't see the argument tbh. I can understand why people would think it would happen again, but always should mean always and not, they did it once, but not the times previous, so it is a permanent expectation of mine now.

I'll say it's excitement rather than anxiety. Since independence day deals disappointment we have been waiting for this big day, so an early info would be nice, but it doesn't matter now it's already too late they better release it by 20th.

Why wouldn't it be released on the 20th? Because they didn't release details?... There was a datamined leak, seems the crystals and their contents are already coded in.
If I was Kabam the smart thing to do would be aligning Banquet with X-mas cash deals

Whilst I'm on your side of the argument, it is an online forum, popcorn is fully permitted to stay here and argue as long as they want. Just cuz we don't agree with them on something doesn't give us the right to say there is the door

Its crazy that at least half the people on here are just contraryans just to be. No matter what you say they just need to argue or contradict just to feel a tingle in their life.

Fact is, this info has always been posted well ahead of time creating an expectation in the community, whether justified or not.
This year there has been zero communication and worse zero acknowledgment from the exact team that has repeatedly committed to better communication.

This leads to a feeling of not being heard or "seen" which leads to escalating anxiety.

Also there are plenty of people out there who are relying (whether justified or not) on this information toplan their strategy and time around real life for the game.

I for one have a very busy life, as do many players, and I have to budget both my time and resources. Having information even just a week before hand can have a huge impact on time budgeting for me.

And lastly for a team, who again, has repeatedly vowed to improve communication it does not take much in resources to say "Hey folks, banquet info should drop on...", OR "Hey everyone, there was a delay in the info drop we are working on it" OR EVEN "This year we aren't doing an info drop until the event hits"

Anything but ignoring everyone would be greatly appreciated.

I know they announced the details well in advance last year and that was a huge thread of player frustration and I feel like the Kabam team eventually acknowledged they overestimated some values but it was too late to make changes at that point. If the search function was better I’d try to find the quote.

I don’t remember what they did prior to that.

I think that announcement last year and the discussion the ensued are why people expected the same early announcement this year. The way that discussion went, it might be the reason we didn’t get early news this year.

If there will be no early news, they could have just mentioned on the live stream that they wanted to maintain suspense this year so there will not be an early details announcement this year and saved a lot of threads but this is all engagement so maybe that’s still a win for them.

Actually my post was about this exact thing. The team known for poor communication, who acknowledged the poor communication, then promised better communication, not doing even minor basic communication on posts that are clearly important to a large group of customers who are waiting to spend in game and monetary resources and just want an idea of what they are spending those resources on ahead of time.

If being ignored is your thing that's great. No judgment. But for others it's not.

We could announce the details, or we could get endless free advertisement every single day in every single channel about how excited players are to learn the details.

In all seriousness though, the only things that need to be known in advance are the start time, which has been announced, and the Alliance lockout, which remains the same as last year. You must be in an Alliance for two weeks before you can contribute to Alliance points or earn Alliance rewards. That means you want to move to your Banquet Alliance before the event starts.

I guess you would have the integrity and spine to stand for your principles and not buy a single banquet crystal or even participate on the event .. I mean you are claiming such wrong doing and how it affects you . Seems only fair that you stick it to them right? Otherwise you are just being whiny about not getting your way kicking and screaming in the candy aisle..
