3-Star Sentry vs. Realm of Legends — Itemless: Day 1

Hi, folks! Hope all is well!

So, OK. Let’s talk Sentry.

Seriously. Because I am truly baffled at how this kit/buff has been received and discussed.

Now, to be clear: I do understand, if you are an Endgame player and have basically cleared just about everything there is to clear in this game, that this kit/buff might not interest you. It might not be something that does anything for your account.

Or if you are truly and totally Battlegrounds-focused, then OK. I get it. You don’t need this kit.

But if you’re not those two specific use-cases — and even if you are — I have one question:

What game are you playing where this kit/buff is ranked, according to the MCoC “vibes,” as being bad?

That is absolutely insane — what are we even talking about here?

BAD COMPARED TO WHAT?

I am seriously asking — what game are you playing where this kit has NO VALUE to you AND you actively tell people that it’s bad?

That is insane!

So, here’s the thing: I always believe that if you truly believe something, you should get into the game and do something with the kit that not “every other kit” can do. Something that shows what you’re actually talking about.

So, my question: How far does anyone think a 3-star can get in Realm of Legends, itemless?

Simple, basic question — no tricks. No boosts. Just a basic synergy team.

How far do you think you get — with any kit in this game — as of December 30, 2024?

I am not saying NO KIT can win fights in Realm of Legends, as a 3-star. Obviously, there are some.

Star-Lord, for example. Aegon, as well. Those characters can win multiple fights.

But how far can they go — how far can any other 3-star kit go — itemless and unboosted?

That’s what this series is gonna answer: I took a 3-star Sentry into Realm of Legends, because I KNOW this kit/buff is good and it would take someone doing something crazy to make a whole bunch of stubborn stop for five seconds and say, “OK. Wait a minute. I need to look at this. Because what I am saying might not actually be true.”

I already know the outcome of the series. But I am not gonna tell it today.

Today is Day 1, where I explain what I am doing and why I am doing it.

Because Sentry is not a bad kit/buff. The narrative about this is absolutely insane, and I am willing to spend my own time to try to change it.

3-Star Sentry. Realm of Legends. No boosts. Itemless.

honestly, good on you! not griping about a difference of opinion, but actually stating YOUR PoV, and also backing it up with a pretty awesome challenge to yourself. I’m looking forward to more. o)

(tbf, I’m in the “his buff is very niche” camp. your challenge looks like a pretty good showcase OF his intended niche, so I’m hoping absurdly positive results.)

-losing charges when losing fights - if he's an Everest champ, he shouldn't have charges lost when he loses. He should be like Aegon, not Mojo.

-awkward ramp up. I just don't get it, but to be fair, I didn't try him that much as he didn't really fill a need. I did take him straight to unascended r4 though.

But I hope you get to Hulk with him. Good luck.

I'm doing an incursions run with sentry and its feeling good, could be better. Dont think he is a good option for everest tho

Let me know how it goes. I've sworn him off unless he is needed for a specific challenge like AoA.

For the last time, NOBODY said RoL is Endgame content.

What it is: Content that everyone understands exactly what it is, has access to, and can attempt to replicate for themselves, with any character they wish.

Some people haven’t completed Act 5/6, or higher.

Not everyone is at the same place in the game, so you have to show people content that everyone can access for themselves.

A 3-star with a health pool under 6K, taking on health pools 50x higher or more “isn’t a challenge”?

Again: If it’s not for you, that’s totally fine. You don’t have to read another word.

But at some point, if it’s not a challenge, then you, PT_99, should absolutely be able to do it without any struggles, with Sentry or any other 3-star kit.

If it’s that easy, then everyone should be able to do it, with any other 3-star kit.

Also: So everyone understands: I am not the one dropping Disagrees on the posts where people are negative or disagree. People can disagree with me as they wish. That’s life. I respond when I can, if it’s something I need to say.

LOL Honestly, that’s not it. It really isn’t.

Because I try to be precise when I speak: I understand the kit isn’t for everyone, and the kit/buff isn’t perfect.

But I was watching a year-end Tier Ranking video, and Sentry was in a tier below…Ant-Man.

See, that right there…come on. That’s excessive slander. Come on.

That isn’t me saying that everyone should pick on Ant-Man or that Ant-Man has no value or use in the game.

But. At the same time.

At some point, people say things that are simply not true, and if you know that it isn’t, then get in there and say so.

Here’s what’s true for me — I think the ramp process is annoying and slow. I personal can’t stand champs with fixed rotations through a cycle of modes / buffs, etc.

That’s totally fine — I get that.

For me, I prefer kits that have a level of consistency, where I know exactly what is happening in the kit and what will happen if I execute properly, “on-demand” functionality.

Again: I am not saying the kit is perfect or for everyone.

But the narrative that the kit/buff is “bad” or terrible, has no uses, is excessive.

I’m almost certain Sentry, fully ramped, should be able to get pretty far.

I think the only problem you might have is SW because of her Poisons. But Sentry could be able to out heal the damage or just get lucky with RNG. I’m not sure without testing.

I don’t see any other problems with Sentry being able to get through this run. As long as you have the Despair Mastery active, Wolverine will be easy and every other fight should be the same. Just ramp up, don’t get hit, and do the damage loop. Rinse and repeat until the end.

I love his kit the lose a charge if die sucks but isnt that like any ramp champ guilly no combo shield u die or get hit lose the ramp aegon no combo shield u die u start the combo over, its just sentry even if u lose 1 charge its easy to gain that 1 charge since fights are long
