Livestreams are meetings that could have been emails

Exactly as the title says. It's not wise, nevermind useful to use a platform not everyone engages with, to disperse in-game information.

Especially in light of the recent banquet fiasco

They always were, but the advantage to the livestreams was the community engagement, which use to happen. I don't think anyone ever complained when all of our updates were just posts on the forums, because at least it was consistent and gave the appropriate detail. The livestreams became a fun way for the community team and the community to connect with one another, but that was starting to fade before the pre-recorded stream anyway.

The stream was pre-recorded because they were likely on holiday. Or, they didn't want to hear the banquet backlash

I've got no issue with a pre-recorded video, and the timing make sense. But they could've communicated that ahead of time. They deserve a break and no one can be upset that they took one, but they could've told people they'd be gone for over two weeks. They could've delayed the stream until they got back to work (which is hopefully today). Anything that has happened is far more palatable when we know it's happening, and that's the part that they don't seem to understand anymore. There's a blatant lack of respect for the community when the team can't take 5 minutes to give us a heads up on what's happening, especially when the job is community engagement. Keeping the community in the loop on stuff like this isn't giving away secrets, but keeping the community out of the loop on stuff like this is the majority of the frustration. The pre-recorded stream is simply a symptom of a bigger problem.
This is certainly not the first time they've done this. They also didn't give us info on Arcade and/or Northstar rebalancing, which I guess we'll find out today

I would of preferred they delayed it and just got info out on a post then start stream back up for feb patch

Even if they so no stream this month, that would've been preferable.

Actually livestreams are informericals we could just live without entirely.

One big sales pitch that seldom has precise information but stokes the expectations with over the top presentations.

They were much better (in terms of structure, engagement, excitement, professionalism) under the era of Jax.

That Anniversary livestream, which really should have been a monumental event, was a complete mess, with three dudes (and sometimes four) just awkwardly giggling and telling inside stories and jokes.

It felt like, "do they know I'm watching this? Am I supposed to be watching this? Why are they acting like its an internal meeting and they all just took an edible?"

Don’t worry next livestream will contain 50% less filler 😅.
