Kabam Dork said on stream that they're interested in feedback. So I have some feedback to give the Kabam team about the most recent stream:
1. Reconsider the setup for giveaways. This new gleam.io format requires signing into our social media accounts, opening access to our real name, actual email address, and other information we may not want connected to our other social media accounts/Kabam name. There was just a post about Brian Grant recently where Kabam stated "everyone deserves their privacy." Is there a reason we need to share this information to participate in giveaways? It seems like all we're doing is sharing our private information.
2. Why are you wasting our time opening crystals? We watch the stream for information. Please refrain from so much filler and give us the information we tuned in to hear.
3. So I wrote #2 in real time, before the reveal that the crystal opening bit was part of introducing grandmaster's grace and its affect on premium crystal pulls. This raises a separate issue: please take time to identify when you're switching to a new topic. You may think that a "surprise" is good communication, but really we're not looking for theater. We just want the information, and we want it given in a way that makes sense. I don't want to be wondering halfway through a bit why I'm wasting my time watching the stream, yet that's exactly what I was doing.
4. Similar to #3, please take more breaks in the conversation. Kabam Dork and Osaurus Rex don't need to fill every second with talking (especially if you're talking over each other). Use silence to separate topics, let people process what they just heard, and to collect your thoughts so you're not just talking to fill space.
5. The discussion about Ares by his creator was great. It was helpful to learn about this new boss, you should give more time to segments like this.
6. Same as #5 about the Epoch of Pain. Lots of great information in a short time. I paid attention to all of this.

Though I guess I should count myself lucky that gleam told me I was making too many entries before I could do anything.
Ultimately the old system led to chat being unusable and that was one of the main bits of feedback we got from previous streams, that there was no interaction with chat. We wanted to fix that and to do so we needed chat to be more legible. Open to alternative suggestions/working to improve it because this was def just a first run with gleam, but I think from our side it ran pretty smoothly (had just about as many entrants as viewers so I think most people got entered eventually).
That all said again, appreciate the feedback!
I am logged in, but I can't claim anything.
So Gleam is the platform we are using for the giveaway in place of typing !code in chat.
Twitch drops are what is in place of the promo code, so you get the reward automatically from watching rather then rushing to the webstore and hugging it to death and entering it an hour later
I went to the website, and logged in to one of my accounts. It suddenly said I had an entry.
On the slide for the giveaways during the livestream, after logging in Kabam says - "Next enter your username and the email associated with your mcoc account so that we can contact you to award your prize."
This never occurred. I never had that option to add my account info. It always just said "entry."
This also meant, that when the 2nd giveaway occurred...I still just had that 'same' entry. I had no ability to enter again.
It looked like this the whole time:
And I even tried multiple different browsers, to see if I could get *something* different, but nope same thing. Quite frankly, I'm surprised anyone was able to enter successfully and especially somehow enter a 2nd time for the 2nd giveaway. I'd love to know how that happened for the future, cause this time it just felt like "oh well, too bad."
Entering giveaways in the twitch stream chat at least *felt* like my entry likely got recorded and I was probably entered for the giveaway. This way? Was an absolute disaster. Everything about this was bad.
If you use this going forward, definitely let the team delivering the livestream know cause this was pretty confusing (I know it's the first time and all. But also, I still prefer everything being done on the same site/page as the livestream)
And I honestly would prefer it that way too. Ideally folks wouldn't leave the stream to enter haha. Unfortunately that was at the cost of chat being unusable which ultimately was something we had to change. On the bright side it does open up the giveaway to folks on other platforms like youtube, so silver linning there to be able to involve more people.
If you're going to hype up that people watch the livestream for the reveal of the Summoner's Choice winner, and then a timed drop on your Social channels announces that winner BEFORE they get to it on the livestream, and then Dorky and Mike go through the whole rigmarole of teasing the reveal when everyone in the chat is like 'we already know'.... definitely blew out the steam of it and made it feel hilariously awkward.
So maybe time that better lol.
They were having fun with it at least lol
This is so much confusion 😞
so what were the Twitch drops? Where were the twitch drops?
I'm confused. I don't understand. I watched the whole livestream. And watched it from twitch.
How do you claim whatever it is you can claim? Where was this even announced?
Genuinely so confused.
