I suspect they'll be released eventually, at least most of them. Also I never subscribe to the idea they're obsolete. A 6* will do what a 6* does, no matter what 7*s are out.

I don't even touch them anymore, complete waste of resources
6*s will never become obsolete. The Ascension system was put in place specifically to prevent that, and 6*s will always be an important milestone in progression. While top MCOC players might not get much mileage out of their 6*s now, the rest of the playerbase still has plenty of use for them. I myself am a Valiant with 3 7* r3s, yet I still use my 6*s every day, whether it be for questing, BGs, AW and AQ
We have 290x 6* and 179x 7* championsFor the remaining 111 champions, is there a schedule to release them as 7* over time or are they joining Quake and Magik in a retirement home?

As your roster grows you will use 6* champs less and less, though there are still champs that are just too good not to use at least for awhile longer.
My 5 stars ,Serpent and Onslaught still win fights on BG.My 6 stars are awesome and will guide me to ParagonThen I will start to rank my 7 starsNo need to hurry
