Current State of the MCOC in 2025

Hello,
It has been awhile. I didn't announce it but I left the game 2 years ago due to being burnt out as an alliance leader and spending a little too much money. I was curious what is the current state of the game as I may decide to go back. My account was top 100 worthy 2 years ago but I know how often things change. It'll be fun to go through the acts I've missed and build my account back up. Any feedback before my potential return would help.

2 years ago, there's no valiant (new progression level after paragon)
2 years ago, there's no battlegrounds (doesn't apply to you if you don't intend to play this mode)
2 years ago, there's no 7* rank 3 champions
You are most likely a paragon with 6* rank 4 champions
It's really hard to do anything with 6* rank 4 champions which is 2 generations behind the current strength of most champions these days (7* rank 3 and 6* rank 5 ascended)
@TheTalents your first instinct is right, dive into story content for the best rewards for your effort. Honestly should be plenty doable with your roster as is. From there, I’d start looking at the permanent Everest content that’s been released since you left, especially the Carina’s Challenges. Take some time to build up healthy item reserves from Apothecary and the Super Daily Event.
You’ll probably be a bit rusty after all hat kind of break, so don’t be in any rush. Prioritize getting two 7* champs to r3 for the Valiant title, and look to get involved with an alliance running regular AQ and AW. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can catch up.
If the objective is to have some casual fun, any account will be more than sufficient
If the objective is to have a competitive account, den some spending might be necessary if not just spend more time playing to catch up
Some people do enjoy the process of playing and catching up to the current progress of the game
If not 6* rank 4 champions will have a fairly hard time even in Thronebreaker difficulty event quest and arena against 7* rank 3/4 champions
• Unit devaluation
• Stale rewards in most game areas besides permenant content.
Hope that helps!
Here’s an ultra condensed guide to catching up as a whale
you are gonna be severely behind the meta so I would recommend blitzing through story to unlock valiant, so you have the highest offer tiers available since you want to spend. Once there, you’re gonna want to spend on any and all focused methods of 7* acquisition and rank up resources to help get your roster built up with the new top tier champions. Take a look at any of the top level yt accounts going through war or battlegrounds to see who you should be ranking up, there’s some really cool new champs from the last two years you’ve missed.
Once you have valiant and begin widening your roster, your goal should be first to get through necropolis and it’s related carina challenges, then through epoch of pain for a r4 gem. These are both fairly easy tasks with a mildly large unit stash and good planning, but lack of roster depth may hurt you for epoch. There are some fantastic video guides out there though.
Luckily for you fourth of july will be a great place to blast your prestige up with sig stones and even more rankup mats so that you can remain competitive in aq and eligible for a top alliance, but other than that 7* sig stones are still fairly scarce. The updated sigil provides a few extra though along with the reworked daily event.
Top ranked alliance quest content isn’t really going to be a struggle (except maybe nightmare raids?), the hard part is the prestige requirements right now. You’ve missed a lot of easy rankup materials so it’ll take a bit to catch up. Top ranked war is in an interesting spot with the new map, so you’ll have to learn how to fight some of the new defenders (which you can get plenty of practice with in battlegrounds)
If you’re thinking Battlegrounds, it’s a lot easier to climb into GC since season 19, and the BG rewards would be helpful to grow roster at your current level. If you’re thinking about getting back to competitive high tier AQ, then you should start investigating AQ raids which were introduced last year. Raids are optional enhanced versions of AQ that run parallel to AQ, but for all intents and purposes if you’re looking to get back to competitive AQ that’s where all the action is. It’ll be mandatory for any top tier AQ alliance.
