Can someone explain to me why there is a difference between "I'm not going to spend any more money on this game until they address my complaints" and "I'm not going to play or discuss this game anymore until they address my complaints"? Do people just not value their own time as worth anything? Or are they addicted to the game and not spending money is the biggest leap they can take while still holding onto their addiction?

Why do you have to take to the extreme of a psycho babble bs and call it an addiction? Its something people enjoyed for years, something people invested time, money, made friends in the process. Its not that easy to give up. Sure some people could be addicted; but in my case I did meet people I play with in real life and the last thing we did was play the game.

Video game addiction is "psycho babble bs"?? Anyway, I ask this for three reasons. (1) While I haven't been playing that long, I do watch and read stuff from years ago, and honestly, none of these complaints are new. Sure, the specifics might be new, but the general nature of complaints has been ongoing for years (bad AI, bad rewards, bad design, unfair glitches, unfair nodes, etc.). So to hear people who have been around for years constantly say things like "it's never been this bad", and then the next year say the same thing, it just seems like a cycle to me. (2) I ask myself if I am addicted all the time. When I find myself playing this game and not having fun, I try to take a step back and re-assess why I am playing, whether I feel like I can stop or take a break if I'm not enjoying it, etc. (3) I don't view time and money as separate things. They should both be valuable to players, and if they're not, maybe they need to make some changes in their life. No one should play a video game they do not enjoy...

Don't derail this thread is going well Are you seriously going to pretend you know players based on something you read on "Video game addiction"? We are not talking about the people who died at Cyber cafes in Asia because they played Starcraft for over 40 straight hours.

(1) There aren't going to be 100 different things to complain about. The game is not that cumbersome. It's not Skyrim with 900 places to go and different interactions. You literally fight one person at a time and get rewards, that's the whole game. The complaints will always be the same except when new game modes come out, then they are just added to the list.
(2) If you are asking yourself (and posting in forums accusing everyone else) of being addicted, then you probably are. Most of us have just been around a long time. I've only been using the forum for like a year and there's been a dramatic shift in the vibe here. I enjoyed it at first but now it's depressing but I feel like it's the best place for news when you can find it.
(3) Time and money are separate things. I don't like wasting time but I HATE wasting money and avoid it at all times. And, sometimes, I do actually like to waste time.
We’re finally seeing the impact of layoffs and the skeleton crew that runs the game currently vs what they had years ago
100%, I believe that deep down most of them care as they want to keep their jobs. It just feels like they can’t do enough with what they have and greed at the top has eroded the foundation, which is the trust of the player base.
Kabam is more tolerant in this situation than I would be. You're indirectly encouraging boycotting and telling people they can spend if they choose. I get being frustrated. Passive aggressive threats aren't going to resolve issues any faster. This is a glorified tantrum.

What even is the less tolerant option? Banning us? Or just telling us to shut it? Even if you think people are being hysterical I can’t imagine either of those being seen as sensible choices.

Not promoting a boycott on the Fourm would be a start. People are free to air their frustrations within the rules of the Forum, but there was a time when anything to do with a boycott would be removed from here. I'm sorry, but the "I'm not saying you should but if you choose to...." malarkey isn't going to cut it with me.

People becoming disillusioned about something they once loved, hoping it gets better, and sharing their frustrations with a community of people is far from a tantrum. There is also hardly any action a community can take to make something like this better other than speaking with their wallets so if they want to see change and this is the only way they can make an impact then they will.
Kabam is more tolerant in this situation than I would be. You're indirectly encouraging boycotting and telling people they can spend if they choose. I get being frustrated. Passive aggressive threats aren't going to resolve issues any faster. This is a glorified tantrum.
Except they're not even exiting, just being drama queens about it...
Players need Kabam to validate the time, money, and emotional energy they've poured into the game. They're not just players—they're people who've made this game part of their identity, their self-worth, their routine, their fake social circle. So when Kabam screws up, they don’t just get mad at a company—they feel personally betrayed, like a parent let them down.
That's why all these complaints sound so emotional. “Please listen to us.” “We just want to be heard.” “We used to have fun together.” It’s not consumer feedback—it’s the emotional language of neglected attachment. Kabam isn’t just a service provider anymore; it’s mommy and daddy.
And when someone says, “Why are you still living at home if you hate your parents?” They're the bad guy who needs to be insulted and drowned out.

Expect nothing less from you. It is not passive aggress, he is directly addressing it by not spending. He is also directly addressing the issues that he sees.
I’m not posting this with the intent of getting pitchforks and torches raised, Vega himself said in the video, do what you want to do. However, I think he raises a lot of good points on the trajectory of the game and concerns he has for the future. Therefore, I wanted to share it here and start a healthy discussion on the forums. I would encourage you to watch his video and formulate your own opinion of the state of the game and make a call on whether to continue to support it financially, or communicate to kabam that you are displeased with the current state of the game through your wallet.
I don’t want to villainize any particular member of the team or make any grandiose statements, and if you want to continue spending, that is your call, you won’t get any hate from me. However, it feels like this game is being lulled to sleep through passivity, and I don’t want that to happen. I love this game and have interacted with some amazing people through it. I could keep going, but I’ll leave it here. I hope this fosters a good back and forth discussion.
I stopped spending 8 months ago and have now completely stopped playing this game. That's how anyone can make a stand, if by there own will decide to do so.

I've been around long enough to know any semblance of a boycott snuffed itself out when it got the attention of the game team. This is about the same as a child holding its breath until it turns blue. Being frustrated and communicating that is one thing. Thinking that withholding money is going to make things get fixed faster is another. They're not sitting on their hands waiting for cash. They're working on things. Whether that's something you believe or not, is up to you. However, when I see something inane being encouraged, I'm going to call it like it is. Sorry, not sorry.

1. If you really had read stuff from "years ago" you'd know that "years ago" these issues were addressed pretty often and therefore such issues weren't happening all at the same time, sure they were happening but like I said not all of them at the same time. I can tell you for a fact, never in the 10 years I've been playing, have I seen so many things wrong with the game all at the same time. This isn't a cycle, the game has in fact never had these many issues going at the same time. 2. I don't know why you keep bringing up this argument about addiction, some people are simply more invested in the game than you are that doesn't make them addicted. 3. Cool good for you, some of us want change, not to quit because we know for a fact we could start enjoying it again if some things changed so why give up? That's what we have the forums for.

I thought you were just a Kabam shill in the past, but…wow. You act like you are some paragon of common sense. This is not some witch hunt, people are allowed to speak their minds and be frustrated with what has been a bit of a clown show recently. You realize you are doing the exact same thing, just from the opposite side of the argument.
You know it is way overdue to actually implement some changes when people who love this game and spend their not paid time supporting its community through a whole YouTube channel start making this kind of videos. At this point it is less about people who just rant for ranting. You let this get to its climax, Kabam, by letting it slide for months prioritizing other features of the game we invest our time in.

20 months since last BGs rewards changes, if that's what you call working I wonder how you make a living yourself without getting fired from every job you step foot in.
Love Vega as a creator and a dude. Appreciate his take on the situation and understand where he's coming from. Obviously this isn't a snap your fingers and its fixed situation, but this is definitely heard and we're passing it along to the team.
My two cents, stop reading those dna3000s, they make you think you are doing the right thing all the time, that is why so many things eventually go so wrong.
Again, 3 days is enough for you guys to fix BG rewards
You have to question at this point, if moving resources to the deathless chase was worth it. It's kinda obvious other areas of the game suffered for it. Make sense why individual pieces are so expensive unit wise. deathless champs should have been in conjunction with everything else, more like regular trophy champs, Instead of sacrificing updates elsewhere. At least, that's the way I see things went down.

You don't know what gaslighting means. I'm not telling anyone, "No, actually you are happy with the game. You don't have any complaints. Everything is fine for you." That would be gaslighting.

Are you seriously going to pretend you know players based on something you read on "Video game addiction"? We are not talking about the people who died at Cyber cafes in Asia because they played Starcraft for over 40 straight hours.
Again, 3 days is enough for you guys to fix BG rewards
I'm not telling anyone, "No, actually you are happy with the game. You don't have any complaints. Everything is fine for you."
That would be gaslighting.
