12.0 boycott wasn't on the same level as this one, if you were here for it you'd know.
It absolutely freakin was, I even remember the memes, bro this had tons of people losing their minds
You weren't here, you joined the forums in 2023 lol it wasn't on the same level as this one where the devs not only were forced to give us an answer the same day, they even reverted the scoring system change. 12.0 was a dumpsterfire for sure but not on this level.
12.0 was more vocal. Also, that was on the old forums. YouTube content creators weren't as prominent and out spoken but the forums community and twitter were. The fact that everyone can remember 12.0 and hardly remember the other " boycotts" is a sign. You only have one or two threads on this.
Back then, it was all anyone could talk about. It's barely being talked about right now here in the forums. So they aren't the same. 12.0 changed the fundamentals of the game. This is just boycotting for not liking some things in the game.
It may have been more vocal on forums and Twitter but it didn't bring together all ccs like this did, the only one boycotting the whole thing was Seatin as far as I can remember. Also, there were more than two threads on this and all of them had a good amount of replies with one of them having page after page full of rage, and the reason the threads stopped is because we already got a reply from Kabam the same day and they reverted the scoring system before it even went live, none of this happened with the 12.0 boycott back then I don't even remember them acknowledging anything they just ignored everyone.
Again I'm not saying it wasn't a big deal nor am I claiming the changes were insignificant, I'm just saying that one boycott didn't bring together literally every single relevant cc the way this just did.
That's because it didn't CCP didn't exist back then. As I said, YouTubers didn't really start becoming more vocal until after 12.0. Seatin and BG are the only 2 with videos at least that I can find.
12.0.is completely different than what's happening right now. The crux of 12.0 was there wasn't any communication. One day, a handful of champs we're the creme of the crop, the next day they were trash. And it all had to do with diminishing returns. The game couldn't continue the way it was before 12.0 no matter what but the fact they didn't tell anyone, that's why the "boycott" happened.
The changes to 12.0 were universally hated. We just didn't have the access we have to other players as easily as we do now. There are dozens more content creators, the forums are bigger and apps like line and discord are more used.
We didn't have communication for a while or even answers to our questions. Not even detailed explanations. Now we have Crashed coming in and giving us insights and more communication than we had before.
Again, it's just my opinion, but 12.0 was bigger and affected so much more than what's happening currently. The main reason is because currently, nothing has been changed, only talked about so there's still time to reevaluate.

I got all my anniversary titles I don't need to have a 2017 forum account to prove I was here lol.
Right, so why do you make assumptions about other people based on when their current forum account was created?

Because of the things he said on this thread alone, his reply to mine was "it was bigger cause of the memes", that makes absolutely no sense and it sounds like someone who definitely wasn't around back then.

I'm not denying that, I agree that it was way more detrimental on a technical level to the players. I'm just saying, nothing was achieved with that boycott, this one got us an immediate reply on the same day and a change got reverted as well, and that's the only reason I am putting this boycott above the other. We actually achieved something with this one and Kabam heard us and said something.

It was a bigger issue that impacted the game, at the same time the game wasn't as monetized as it is now. Probably why the reason its pissing off more people.

I wouldn't call what happened now a boycott. I'd call it an uprising more than anything. There's nothing going on in the game to currently boycott. No sales, no major events, etc .. people just spoke loud enough with points that were good enough to make changes.

Well, Spring Cleaning was next month so there would've been something to boycott and I'm sure this would've affected their sales just because of how big of an audience we're talking about here since the videos came from basically every successful and relevant mcoc cc. Whether that was the reason or not I guess we'll never know cause we got what we wanted already, sort of.

Wow, you're something special.
What you said doesn't prove anything - nobody on these forums has a forum account pre-12.0 because these forums had a reset at one point (after 12.0) as they were hosted on a different site with Kabam's other games. It was called the Kabam Forums lol.

Ok, but I wasn't the one saying that forum account creation date is proof of when someone started playing the game. I was saying that it shouldn't be used as an assumption of anything...

You weren't here, you joined the forums in 2023 lol it wasn't on the same level as this one where the devs not only were forced to give us an answer the same day, they even reverted the scoring system change. 12.0 was a dumpsterfire for sure but not on this level.
Tells OP he wasn't here for 12.0 boycott because he has a post-12.0 forum account. Meanwhile, his own forum account is post-12.0.
Wow, you're something special.
What you said doesn't prove anything - nobody on these forums has a forum account pre-12.0 because these forums had a reset at one point (after 12.0) as they were hosted on a different site with Kabam's other games. It was called the Kabam Forums lol.
But you obviously wouldn't know that.
Ok, but I wasn't the one saying that forum account creation date is proof of when someone started playing the game. I was saying that it shouldn't be used as an assumption of anything...
You've stated numerous times on these forums that you're newer to the game. Even I know that. Your particular point isn't wrong but it ultimately doesn't matter. You weren't around for 12.0.
Person A told OP they weren't around for 12.0 because their account was created after 12.0. Person A's own account was also created after 12.0. I was responding to Person A how it makes no sense to make assumptions based on forum account creation date. I was not implying that I was around for 12.0. I wasn't...

I joined these forums two years after they were created, he joined six years after they were created + his replies are nonsensical. If he had been here for 12.0 he would've given an actual detailed reply like Demonzfyre instead of the "I saw the memes lol". I'm not assuming based on the account alone, I'm assuming based on everything including the date.

Except they ignored the threat of a boycott and everything was fine. I guess they care more about a dip in profits this time. Cause DMs were flying and we got a report that was supposed to come way later on.

This is precisely the point I'm trying to make, Twitter and Reddit were flooded for sure but everything was pretty much ignored by Kabam as far as I can remember. On a technical level, yes it had a bigger impact on the players but this boycott obviously had a bigger impact on Kabam themselves seeing how we made them turn around on the scoring changes and not only forced the information out of them but the last minute buff to VT literally a week before season 27 starts. This is the first time (as far as I'm aware) a boycott has had this kind of response from Kabam and that alone speaks volumes.

People want Rewards updated, among a few other issues. During 12.0, they changed the entire game because the Champs that were at the top of the food chain stopped them from being able to produce anything that could challenge people. Both literally and mathematically. So they switched to the DR/CR system. No Dev wants to kill their own game. The problem is there was no communication of this, and it was like it happened overnight. So people fought back. The attention of the game team was gotten, and some compromises were made, but some people pushed for a total revert, and that wasn't in the cards. So they negated their own purpose. All these things are intended to do is to get the attention of the team and discuss things. You can have the attention and you can expect perfection, but you can't do both.

That mentality is exactly what killed the last movement. It's a compromise, not a hostile takeover. They're making an effort to accommodate to people. If you don't respect that, then you're canceling your own argument out.

I run businesses too, I can be apologetic to the dumbest customer while knowing he is wrong; but I know I will milk him more if I make him think he is right. I've watched people like Vega and DamnEpic whale out at every recent sales event and compile rosters that makes everything I do in the game seem pathetic by comparison. People like them boycotting spending is like the only way I will actually have motivation to spend money on these upcoming sales.... But I doubt they will have the willpower to stop spending, I hope I'm wrong though...

Except they ignored the threat of a boycott and everything was fine. I guess they care more about a dip in profits this time. Cause DMs were flying and we got a report that was supposed to come way later on.
Compromises were made? You mean forced. I have yet to see someone say, Oh yay no boycott we got an orange text. Its all good now.
That mentality is exactly what killed the last movement. It's a compromise, not a hostile takeover. They're making an effort to accommodate to people. If you don't respect that, then you're canceling your own argument out.
Oh good old Grounded... Twisting, turning and thinking he landed a triple axle. I run businesses too, I can be apologetic to the dumbest customer while knowing he is wrong; but I know I will milk him more if I make him think he is right. You can try to tape a leak, its an effort. Not a fix.
It's a choice, buddy. They could just as easily continue making the game in the way they see fit. I can think of at least a dozen mobile games that don't stop to communicate with users the way these guys do.
They could you are 100% right on that; but I guess a threat of a boycott right now makes them think things over...
Sure. I didn't argue that people have their attention, but when you start talking about forcing them and making demands and the Player base being in control, you're missing the point entirely.

I didn't say forcing them, I have no power to force anybody to do anything. Can you deny they felt forced though? Or at least worried? Times have changed, maybe when 12.0 happened they had the luxury of thinking "It is what it is and this is what we are going to do" and ignore the players or not care about a boycott. Now it might be different.

I was saying that it shouldn't be used as an assumption of anything...
Person A's own account was also created after 12.0.
I was responding to Person A how it makes no sense to make assumptions based on forum account creation date.
I was not implying that I was around for 12.0. I wasn't...

Crashed is on top of it during a weekend while his family is visiting. 12.0 They didn't even answer posts lol.

What you call an effort to accommodate to me is just putting out a fire they caused.
People like them boycotting spending is like the only way I will actually have motivation to spend money on these upcoming sales....
But I doubt they will have the willpower to stop spending, I hope I'm wrong though...
