12.0 boycott wasn't on the same level as this one, if you were here for it you'd know.
It absolutely freakin was, I even remember the memes, bro this had tons of people losing their minds
You weren't here, you joined the forums in 2023 lol it wasn't on the same level as this one where the devs not only were forced to give us an answer the same day, they even reverted the scoring system change. 12.0 was a dumpsterfire for sure but not on this level.
Tells OP he wasn't here for 12.0 boycott because he has a post-12.0 forum account. Meanwhile, his own forum account is post-12.0.
Wow, you're something special.
What you said doesn't prove anything - nobody on these forums has a forum account pre-12.0 because these forums had a reset at one point (after 12.0) as they were hosted on a different site with Kabam's other games. It was called the Kabam Forums lol.
But you obviously wouldn't know that.
I was here for that, on the old Forum, and it wasn't the same. Not at all. This situation is a fraction of what that was.
Except they ignored the threat of a boycott and everything was fine. I guess they care more about a dip in profits this time. Cause DMs were flying and we got a report that was supposed to come way later on.
People want Rewards updated, among a few other issues. During 12.0, they changed the entire game because the Champs that were at the top of the food chain stopped them from being able to produce anything that could challenge people. Both literally and mathematically. So they switched to the DR/CR system. No Dev wants to kill their own game. The problem is there was no communication of this, and it was like it happened overnight. So people fought back. The attention of the game team was gotten, and some compromises were made, but some people pushed for a total revert, and that wasn't in the cards. So they negated their own purpose. All these things are intended to do is to get the attention of the team and discuss things. You can have the attention and you can expect perfection, but you can't do both.
Compromises were made? You mean forced. I have yet to see someone say, Oh yay no boycott we got an orange text. Its all good now.
That mentality is exactly what killed the last movement. It's a compromise, not a hostile takeover. They're making an effort to accommodate to people. If you don't respect that, then you're canceling your own argument out.
Oh good old Grounded... Twisting, turning and thinking he landed a triple axle. I run businesses too, I can be apologetic to the dumbest customer while knowing he is wrong; but I know I will milk him more if I make him think he is right. You can try to tape a leak, its an effort. Not a fix.
It's a choice, buddy. They could just as easily continue making the game in the way they see fit. I can think of at least a dozen mobile games that don't stop to communicate with users the way these guys do.
They could you are 100% right on that; but I guess a threat of a boycott right now makes them think things over...
Sure. I didn't argue that people have their attention, but when you start talking about forcing them and making demands and the Player base being in control, you're missing the point entirely.
I was the one that said we forced them to revert the scoring changes which was 100% our right because not a single person asked for that unnecessary change and on the long run it would've been an extremely unhealthy change especially for the next mutant nuke meta.

Spring cleaning is coming up, all I'm gonna say lol.
I've watched people like Vega and DamnEpic whale out at every recent sales event and compile rosters that makes everything I do in the game seem pathetic by comparison. People like them boycotting spending is like the only way I will actually have motivation to spend money on these upcoming sales.... But I doubt they will have the willpower to stop spending, I hope I'm wrong though...
Well, we'll find out soon enough if they spend or not. Doubt they will, they'd just lose a lot of credibility (and respect from me).

I don't disagree. I'm not sure why you replied to me with that.
People don’t realise they are in the 1% of the player base that actually cares about this stuff. The boycott won’t work it’s a waste of time
It’s already worked and fast tracked a lot tho. So try again lmao stop pretending you know what’s going on because your comments make it clear you don’t got a clue.

I’m reporting you
Your post was taken down but his antisemitism the last 6 times in under 2 months was ignored. That’s messed up. this dudes been banned before for this type of bs and just keeps hopping on to bully and be racist to others.every damn week. Why is it being allowed and intentionally ignored is my question. Did they send you an auto response as they do when they delete posts and comments? What did it say? That it’s not acceptable to show proof of antisemitism regularly but the actual antisemitism can stay up?

This might be one of the many things I'm wrong about, but I feel that people like DamnEpic and Vega have contributed to the very system of unfettered monetization that they are now bitter about. I don't quite understand why regular players don't just view this as a beef between Tesla and Cybertruck owners whereas we're all just driving Toyotas... They want more power and more benefits for the thousands of dollars and tens of thousands of hours they've spent on the game. I want better offers and rewards from Kabam too, but heck no do I think that my interests align with these content creators in any way....

I used the word compromise. Anyone who reads the Thread can see that. Arguing about who used what word is useless. The point I made was no movement, boycott or otherwise, will be effective if one side ignores the effort of the other. If that's the stance you want to keep, by all means.

You were, but he made the comment that they were forced into compromising. That's what I was responding to.
Lol I didn't use the word compromise, you said compromise and I laughed at the idea of it. I don't see any compromise at all other thank a bucket of water thrown at the fire.
This is semantics. The comments are there for anyone to read.
No, this is you twisting and making it fit your narrative. There is a boycott, there is no compromise yet, because all we have right now is words and intentions.

5 years ago sure... Now one side needs the other a lot more. Hey we upset players can just quit, take a break, uninstall, stop caring, worse case scenario go F2P.... Funny you talk about semantics or who used what word. Didn't you get annoyed by a "Boycott" thumbnail?... Even Kabam is humbling down, not sure why are not.

I don't know if I'd call it annoyed. I said I would prefer if they used other wording because it has snowball effects. Which it did, so I wasn't off. I also don't call this a boycott either, so there's that. If you're under the illusion that one side needs the other desperately, I can assure you if the game folded tomorrow, I have all the faith in the world the team would move on to something else. I'm not saying they don't appreciate and value the Players. It's obvious they do, regardless of what the frustration says. If you're saying they need us in some sort of desperate way, I don't think you're being realistic.

Spring cleaning is coming up, all I'm gonna say lol.
I've watched people like Vega and DamnEpic whale out at every recent sales event and compile rosters that makes everything I do in the game seem pathetic by comparison. People like them boycotting spending is like the only way I will actually have motivation to spend money on these upcoming sales.... But I doubt they will have the willpower to stop spending, I hope I'm wrong though...
Well, we'll find out soon enough if they spend or not. Doubt they will, they'd just lose a lot of credibility (and respect from me).
Vega has been switching sides for his entire youtube career. I liked vega, he is definitely a stand up guy and I appreciate his involvement with the less famous youtubers. But it's hard for youtubers who spend on a game to stop spending to hamper their channel growth. Legacy, dmanepic, you name them, they will all whale out in the end. Tcn will whale out, the top 20 AQ will whale out. Top 50(probably more) BG celestials will whale out. No one can stop them unless they quit mcoc for somthing else to whale out.

The thing is a lot of them don't need more channel growth cause that's not their main source of income, Vega especially has stated that on his livestreams from what I've heard. Now I don't know how often he switches sides cause I don't follow him closely, but I do know most of them were whales even before making YouTube content, they don't need the extra revenue at all.

They are normal content creators just like most youtubers. Who doesn't like more engagement! It's normal and it's okay. As you said, it's not big for them to drop 1000 dollars on mcoc. I followed him for a year during the peak BG championships. At one point in the past he said he was quitting the game. I don't dislike him, just like I don't dislike KT either. Not a fan clickbaits though. It may work on gullible audience, but some of us sees right though the facade. Most of them have made videos that they are going to stop the spending in the past. But apart from few genuine players, none of the top boycotters followed up on that. They all come back with arms wide open full of cash. There is no selfless act in youtuber business. BGs is the mode which helps many mcoc creators keeping the light on. And the rich folks won't mind more revenue. And we get it.
I don't follow mcoc youtubers these days, I'll search if I need somthing specific. Did USAFA made a 'boycott' video? Idk so I'm just asking. Raising voice is I'm all in for tbh. BUT, it'll be nice to know things get better for the remaining 500000 players. For me, BG is not the main issue. It's overall feeling towards the game and and different modes. BGs is one part of them.
I don't care about the game anymore, I stayed competitive for very long. But now I'm playing the game on my terms. I have completely abandoned my main account, 8M rating. Got absolutely nothing to do. Epoch was the last thing I did, I'm not even logging in. It's all about my alt account now. Im enjoying planning out old content. Bgs is not primary focus. It's been fun apart from the bugs and glitches. Rng been effing me up in this account too. But we are accustomed to it rofl.

At the risk of looking like a Vega apologist twice in the same century, Vega has never switched sides. Vega has always been on his side. As has Seatin, Lags, and all the other content creators. As have I. We all have our own interests and perspectives, and sometimes they align with yours, and sometimes they don’t.
The comparisons between the current situation and what happened with 12.0 are interesting, but most of them miss the point. Neither 12.0 nor what’s happening now is about spending boycotts per se. Kabam has never really been afraid of people claiming to stop spending. Remember they can see what we buy and how much we buy every day. It is more about communication. The communication channels between Kabam and the playerbase were highly limited back when 12.0 happened. The content creators program did not even exist in its current form. Individual developers did not have the same level of relationships with individual players. Technical communication of any kind was practically nonexistent. And I firmly believe that all the forum and social media stuff did almost nothing to get Kabam’s attention. They only took notice when actual news outlets began covering the brouhaha. And as I am fond of pointing out, in the end Kabam didn’t actually revert 12.0. In absolute terms they barely did anything at all. Part of that was due to the fact the playerbase at the time was, to be frank, poorly informed. Much of what the 12.0 boycott leaders asked for was blatantly impossible or nonsensical. Kabam couldn’t give them what they asked for even if they wanted to. Kabam made token changes to demonstrate good faith, they changed a few thing that were genuinely broken that the boycott didn’t even ask for, and they gave out a compensation package. But they did not revert 12.0, and after the 12.1 patch the organized “boycott” more or less fell apart when Kabam didn’t blink and refused to revert 12.0.
What we’re seeing now is less about any threat of boycott, and more akin to what happened around 7.1 beta and Seatin’s “burnout” thread. Then and now Kabam had a much more developed CCP program and a much more developed communications channel with the players. There was more two-way technical communication between devs and players, and we’d already gone through many other smaller cases of built-up negative sentiment. As with 12.0 it wasn’t the direct threat of spending boycotts but rather the stronger signal of players all expressing similar things that were not just the usual “buff everything” stuff. A lot of people don’t know this, but things didn’t start with Seatin’s burnout video or with my Act 6 post. Those sentiments had been brewing during the Act 7.1 closed beta, and Kabam had been hearing similar sentiments leading up to it. They acted not because of the threat of spending or playing boycotts but rather due to the fact that those complaints had reached a critical mass - they were actually already thinking about then long before Seatin’s video or my post.
The sentiments behind the current set of videos have been brewing for a while. I’ve been privy to the lead up for quite some time in the CCP chatter. A lot of different things with a similar theme. And Kabam has been thinking about it for quite some time as well: none of this is an immediate reaction to the current “boycott movement” (some of what they have said they had indicated to the CCP they were working on for a while). What a lot of people are seeing is a wave of content creators complaining and Kabam being forced to respond to them, but that’s a large oversimplification. What you’re seeing is a public version of conversations that have been happening for a while. Once upon a time, the public arena was the only place this could happen, so seeing it at all was seeing the actual conversation. Today, what you’re seeing is the private concerns and conversations elevated to public discourse. The content creators did not wake up last week and decide they had a problem, and the developers did not just find out about it and decide to whip up a plan to address it.

I'm absolutely not against people doing what they want to, or what they show in their channel. Whoever it may be or whatever perspective one have.
But Vega is not new to clickbaiting. He made a video about leaving ccp. He made a video about him quitting the game. And now he is using the word BOYCOTT with large bold font on the thumbnail. I'm not a fan of the word boycott. Its not going to fool everyone.
While I don't watch youtubers, I watched the popular Boycott videos. Damnepic, vega, legacy, trap. The comment section is completely divided between people agreeing to the boycott vs the people who are pointing out the selfish nature of a battleground streaming career or top 0.1% player problems.
The vast majority of the line groups I'm in are mocking, the boycotters and kabam, the same. They don't even care about the boycott. Players are dissatisfied with the game. Many spenders and non spenders have shared perspective. Some of them are wrong ofcourse but there is a mutual feeling of sorts. Kabam isn't afraid of boycott because there is no boycott to begin with. The sensationalized word doesn't hold any value. I agree with the most part of your elaborated comment. And I am not questioning when or how all this happened. Im in few specific line groups, I was aware of some of the chatter, but had no clue what kabam were cooking behind the curtains. I for one do not trust the "inner circle" of CCP and their secret little group.
I agree, what and how seatin described this situation. I appreciate how Crashed been open to communication. I also like the big reports from him. I don't think crashed is responsible for the difficulty of nightmare Raids, it's hard and I'm fine with most of it. Champion pool is bad tho. Game modes are getting stale but I have been saying that players have progressed a lot in last year without depending on BGs. Kabam changed the BG timer points back, that's a positive. Apart from rewards, BGs needed the core changes. From farming to the matchmaking to small tiers in GC. The player base is going to be frustrated when there is no BG rewards buff for this long, among other things. There are a lot of negetives, the list is long. But there are a lot of positives with general progression and endgame content. Hence as a random player in the community, I'm still playing the game.
But in that end, as the thread heading suggests, The boycott is cap. The frustrated player base want changes, we don't want a boycott. Imma boycott the boycott and will buy cyclops pass and break my f2p streak since morbin pass.

As have I. We all have our own interests and perspectives, and sometimes they align with yours, and sometimes they don’t.

I say as Spring Cleaning was arguably the best event produced by Kabam of 2024.
There is a boycott, there is no compromise yet, because all we have right now is words and intentions.
The point I made was no movement, boycott or otherwise, will be effective if one side ignores the effort of the other. If that's the stance you want to keep, by all means.
Oh for F*** sakes you are obtuse. You think I wish them to lose their jobs? You think I want them to be homeless? You got faith that they will be able to move on? See how dramatic and stupid you sound? I got faith they are able to turn this ship around. Now who is more negative?
No one can stop them unless they quit mcoc for somthing else to whale out.
Can someone kindly explain what's happening?

Opportunity for kabam to make spring cleaning sales really good, if not let’s see how this boycott affects 4th of July sales.
Garantee you the big spenders, casual spenders will open there wallets by spring cleaning or even 4th July deals.
Sure kabam doesn’t want your money but majority of spenders aren’t even here on forums.
