Kabam, please clarify the purpose of Live Stream Drops

I genuinely ask why there would be a design that would require people to watch during the live stream of updates for the game.

I understand the idea is to increase viewership.

However, many players are in school or - like me - older working professionals.

It just seems like the most community oriented thing would be a 24 hour drop period for codes.

Just my opinion but I’d be genuinely interested to hear Kabam’s response.

To increase *live viewership and engagement, not watching after the fact.

You’re not required to watch to get updates for the game.

Even less than that. They average about 8k viewers. But the whole point to drops and giveaways is to boost viewership.

This has been addressed before, including in the thread, but I still feel compelled to pile on and say the incredibly obvious purpose to giving rewards to twitch stream viewers is to incentivize actually watching the streams,

You say "the most community oriented thing" would be to just give them to anyone that gets a code, whether they watch the stream or not. Maybe so, if you define "the most community oriented thing" to be "make sure the maximum possible people get the reward without having to do anything." In fact, I'm not sure why you even put a 24 hour time limit on it. Wouldn't the most community oriented thing be to make the codes good forever? After all, if someone joins the game tomorrow, why would you punish that member of the community by disallowing them to get the rewards everyone else got just one day before?

What this complaint really says is, I'm fine if you give out rewards just as long as I get them also. But if you give out rewards I can't get, I'm going to be upset, oh wait, no, not just me, no, "the community" is going to be upset.

When Kabam used to go to Comic Con, they used to give away stuff there. But why reward people that attend the con only, when so many people don't live there, can't get there, or can't afford to go?

BECAUSE IT IS FINE TO GIVE REWARDS TO PLAYERS EVEN IF NOT EVERYONE CAN GET THEM.

At least, it is for most adults. For children and chimps in banana reward experiments, not so much, but there comes a point where Kabam has to decide whether to inhibit features adults can handle to prevent angering children and animals, and to be frank I'm not entirely certain which way they are going to go with this one.

I cannot for the life of me see why it would make so many people disgruntled to have a 24 hour timeline. It still encourages people to stay up-to-date with the game and follow news from Kabam.

The problem is not twenty four hour codes. We’ve had those in the past, and there’s been no problem with them. The problem is the realization that the playerbase of this game can’t handle twitch stream drops like normal people. That’s borderline disgusting.

The fact that I know this complaint, like most complaints, just comes from a tiny slice of the playerbase is a saving grace. If I thought for one second this represented the majority of the players, I would be embarrassed to be associated with it in any way.
