The Final HoF Advice Poll

Got everyone but Apoc early on (at 220 points). Given the 4.5k units and 15 valiant crystals in milestones that comes out to 18k units or 60 valiants needed.

Now i know normally one would stop here due to the frustration of the phoenix paywall. I couldve walked away with 18k units saved, but just wondering if you'd spend the 18k for the phoenix, r4 gem, AG, and 2 sigs. Or if youd stop here. I can awaken tigra, and nick. And have a generic for FAM.

Compared to 9.2 deal seems like a solid option, but those units could be saved for the next big event in July 4/Cyber (or Banquet/ next years HoF)

Personally I would go all out on this event and spend less on July 4th (it's what I'm doing) because here's the thing, sure July 4th will give you a lot of materials but those same materials will become increasingly available as the months go by and there will be other events this same year with the same or even better deals and materials. HoF champs and especially Dark Phoenix will not be available anywhere in the game for at least a whole year and a half (based on the fact that Omega Days champs still aren't available anywhere in the game) so that alone puts their value above everything July 4th has to offer in my opinion. Not to mention Dark Phoenix is basically what Maestro was when Necropolis came out but better because that nova flame from the immortality buff is almost completely unavoidable for like 90% of the champs in the game no matter how quickly you end the fight unless you have to turn off that immortality.

As for Cyber deals and Banquet, you have enough time to replenish your unit stash by then so I wouldn't even worry about those.

dark phoenix is a ridiculously meta defender, and she's fun in questing. Apart from that, the guaranteed value of the r4 gem and sigs are easily worth the cost imo.

You've got an identical way of thinking as me, ive been preaching to my alliance members that it's better for them to skip July 4 And save their units For an event like banquet Or next year's Hof for the same reason in that the R4s sigs, and AGs will be a lot more readily available as the time goes on in the year whereas the Champions you get here won't come back for at least a year.

I dropped 36k to max out july last year and the only thing of value i got was onslaught. Even the 36k paywall weapon x was mid. Same with the 18k in cyber , got photon and rest like Kraven were mid.

I cant grind arena anymore due to a hand injury so given that, What i might do is see how good the banquet champs (reworks?) Are, and if theyre like 2024 , ill get them. If not, ill spend on next years HoF in case that's when they decide to release champs like scorp, hulkling, AA , etc

I have the gems for them all haha, only thing id be missing out on is Apoc but looks like theyre not gonna add his charges for BGs

You have had far better luck than me. I’m sitting at 240 with three of them - FAM, Apoc, and Tigra, with Tigra awakened. Even with that, I’ve been debating going the rest of the way and I think I’m going to. For me, going the rest of the way lets me get Fury (who is a definite favorite), R4 and awaken Fantman, and awaken Fury (as I have a skill AG). It also frees up my generic AG for Red Guardian.

I’ve also played around with my 6* D Phoenix and I like her. She is fun on offense. No, she isn’t the biggest nuke but I find her fun. If I was just going to use her as a defender frankly a 6*R5A would probably be good enough for me (I don’t play at the highest tiers of BGs or War), but since she is more of a dual threat she is now more interesting to me and also adds to the value of going all the way.

The sigs will also help Fantman, Tigra, and D Phoenix obviously.

All that said, if I already had Fury and Fantman and had ways to awaken them as you do it would be a tougher call than mine. My advice would be to play with the 6* Dark Phoenix as i did and see if you like her for offense and questing. If you do, probably worth it to get her, the R4, save one of your other AGs, and the sigs.

As with you, I was originally planning to go for July 4th but in the end - it will just take me a bit longer to rank up my new champs from the Titan that I hope to pull in a month. Most of the HoF champs I’ll have ranked.

Agreed, only thing I will say tho is Banquet champ reworks are extremely unlikely to be anywhere near as good as the HoF champs so I would still go for HoF over Banquet if I had to pick one, at least if we use last year's Banquet as an example, and also because there is no way they'd add the next batch of powerful champs (which will be stronger than this one there will be zero duds in it quite literally) to an event like Banquet which gives you a lot of stuff regardless of whether you are a spender or f2p, Kabam would lose a money if they did that.

Like youd skip cyber/banquet of this year for HoF of next year?

Yeah if we compare this year HoF to last year banquet its a no brainer, but last years Omega Days i wasnt inclined to drop a penny for those champs tbh.

But yeah depends on the level of the reworked or released champs banquet has , because everything else is more "fluff" to me .

Its crazy for someone like me that builds unit stash and only spends their units on these big events to skip july 4/cyber , but given these 36k paywalls, i feel like its what makes the most sense. The resources from those 2 events are easier to be "powercrept " over time compared to champs

Well, I'm gonna spend money on both but if I absolutely had to pick one yes next year's HoF for two reasons:
1. Banquet/Cyber/July deals will give Titans rank up mats etc which will become more available as time goes by (radiance is already making a massive difference for me personally I already got one r4 with the 30k from objectives alone) but none of them will give out exclusive champs, Banquet might but even then they won't come close to the champs we would be getting in next year's HoF which brings me to reason 2. The only champs left that would be worth adding to next years HoF are
Science: Torch, Scorpion, Cassie
Skill: Kate, KP, Valk
Mutant: AA, Kitty, Magneto
Tech: Nimrod, Ghost, Viv
Cosmic: Hulkling, CGR
Mystic: Abs, Doom, Claire, Mephisto

There will most likely be one or two that are less powerful than the rest but (just as en example) the pool would probably still end up looking something like: Scorpion, Valk, AA, Viv, Hulkling, Mephisto in which case Scorpion, Hulkling and AA alone would already make it better than anything Banquet/Cyber/July can offer and the fact that they wouldn't be available for a whole year and a half makes the event even more valuable than the others. The only reason I'm so sure about this though is because the pool for this event is obviously getting better as time goes by (yes iBom and Apoc are not at the same level as the rest but they are very good regardless).

@Oakenshield feels like even if you get lucky early on you still want to go for the final milestone for phoenix given her defender value and trophy exclusiveness.

One suggestion i can recommend to you is that those deals in the store market are actually very good if you look at it from a units perspective.

$50 gives 15 valiants which saves you 4.5k units
Another $50 gets you 12 valiants which saves 3.6k units

Add that up and you get 8.1k units for an odins worth (seems better value than even the deals that give 5k units for an odin to me?)

@Oakenshield @ItsClobberinTime When i first looked at those deals i originally assumed they were bad but this is actually a really efficient way to save your units stash.

Rn i need 60 valiants but with that deal ill need only 33.

Fyi paragon crystals also give you the same amount of points so when you max the valiant deals you can buy the paragon ones next (the valiant 7* crystal doesnt give any points). Paragons obviously arent as rewarding as valiants but if you already have all the champs then the rewards arent as important.

@Polygon thanks. Yes, I’m doing a mix of the store deals and units for this one for the reason you described. Thanks to some strange rounding quirks the lower cost deals were actually better on a $/valiant crystal basis.

Also, just to clarify my position - on the above - what I was saying was if you get lucky early and have most of the champs you want and can awaken them, it makes less sense to go through the rest of the deals unless you really like D Phoenix. For me really liking means she is a dual threat - so useful for offense in addition to her known defensive value. I don’t care about the trophy aspect, nor would I be as interested in going all in if it was just for a defender.
