With these two Runaway characters could it be Morgan Le Fey comes this year later? I'm honestly shocked by two champions I'm honestly not familiar with until doing some searching. Shocked as there are so many notable characters still not in game and to give us two characters who are not as well known. Then again Nico Minoru was on the new Spiderman cartoon "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" where she is voiced by Grace Song.

By “they” I’m assuming you mean the owner of the IP that has to approve all these decisions, right? Imagine that, Marvel wanting the people making the games with their IP to use the whole IP, and not just the most popular characters. What were they thinking.

For obvious reasons one will bring a bunch of new people to the game, the other won't cause they're obscure characters, so yes whoever gave the green light to this instead of the other bunch of popular characters that could've been added for pride month is dumb lol that's my opinion indeed.

Arcade, Serpent, Kushala, Gentle, etc. are good examples of this. I don't know them but now I'm interested about their lore because they are cool in-game.

You're stating the obvious, doesn't change the fact that more than half the playerbase probably had no idea who these two were before the show, if they even watched it at all and their designs look so boring too lol.
As a reminder: Iron Man wasn't well known to the general public prior to the movie, Marvel did research with kids who thought he was a robot at first, but when told he was a guy in a suit, they were more interested. The general population also didn't know who Ant-Man was.

More than half the playerbase knows nothing except the mcu, the game is also about promoting the comics

Leaving aside that I don't know if "Runaways" (a 20 years-old, award-winning, and fan-favorite comic run, even adapted into a TV show) can be exactly considered "obscure", even so, I'd like to remind everyone that the Guardians of the Galaxy were "obscure" characters as well (to the average Joe, at least) before getting their movie in 2014.
Now, try claiming those characters didn't deserve to get a movie (and two sequels) because they were, gasp, "obscure", and let's see how much you're going to be taken seriously.
I, for my part, am excited about Nico and Karolina being added to the game. And, who knows, maybe someone will be intrigued by these characters and (instead of grumbling because the ground-breaking, world-shattering "Stormbreaker Thor©" wasn't introduced) will check out the comic book and have a blast reading it.
