For those who keep talking about what is the harm of using sideloaded/backdoored unofficial versions of the game, the issue is that it becomes much easier to mod using unofficial clients, much harder to catch/detect mods and have always been against TOS. They are now able to determine the validity of the playstore client and the game client.

They also could of warned off modders and allowed them to continue if they did give early warning. Yes.

Unfortunately with the current bans, there are "innocent" players but still using illegitimate clients often based on the device they use that cannot have official playstores. I do believe the anticheat client validates the play store itself as some users are downloading the game from sideloaded playstores. This unfortunately is considered an illegitimate game client as the playstore itself is not native and authroised to the device type.

I get it that many people feel unjustly banned because they were able to play for years and did not mod .. this however does not get around the fact you were breaking TOS.
I'm sure there will be false positives here or there but from what i've seen so far, including someone in my alliance , it is mostly devices that are running custom ROMs/sideloaded playstores that then download the game client which is getting alot of the "unfair" bans.

I think the answer to this question seems very obvious from Kabam’s point of view, but here you go: if you download an unauthorized client, Kabam cannot guarantee what you may do to modify that client and use the mods to cheat in the game. To maintain the integrity for EVERYONE, they have to enforce the rules. If you’re using a side loaded client, you are connecting to their servers and using the service they provide without them being able to ensure that you are doing it fairly. Not sure what’s so hard to understand about this.
