And everyone has already told you exactly what the answers are. Kabam has NEVER acquiesced to illegal downloads. They have warned people in game vial mail for YEARS. The time has come due thanks to new tech that finally allows them to find it easily. Before it was difficult to tell and they had a hard time figuring it out, so anyone who paid for things in game, kabam didn't know if it was illegal client or not. It's not rocket science to figure it out.

According to kabam they did give a warning in a 7 days ban. Accounts who got longer bans had previous strikes. So how long was your ban?

no, they were never compliant, they're just enforcing their rules. as far as i know, and i'm 99.9999% sure, using modified software has always been against the TOS.

BG is actually really tame right now today. And not a modder in sight (Diamond 3 to GC, 104 points, just today). So it does seem like the ban worked as the app was probably sideloaded and modified for the BG cheaters.
But it accidentally killed many players who played games in a law-abiding manner.

Think of it this way - shopping at Costco is technically only available to members. Some people aren’t members but borrow a membership from someone they know to go buy stuff. Some non-members may sneak in to just get a cheap hot dog at the food court.

Once Costco is able to better detect who is and isn’t a member, they can choose to “ban” non-members from buying more stuff until they become a real member. There is no reason that Costco needs to refund money for past purchases. The money itself was not illegal, and the non-member obtained goods for their money at that time that.

Kabam introduced a new anti cheat system recently and that system helps them to identify those account who weren't using their official apps. They didn't know this earlier, that's why they are banning those accounts now and not earlier.

Like bluestacks for example, you can still download from android store USING bluestacks as you can this with other games but not mcoc they won’t allow it.

I think logical reasoning is not your strong point. Since Kabam has previously allowed those who downloaded the game from unofficial channels to play the game normally, and they happily accepted their payment, now that a new technology has suddenly emerged, you deny that these people are customers?
What part of Announcement you don't understand. I will try to put it if I was talking to a child so you may understand.

-Before: No one was banned before because they didn't have technology to detect where the game was downloaded from.

I think there’s a language barrier here.
I’m pretty sure you’re from the chunk of people who are either in china or have a custom OS(after recent ban wave seems there’s quite a bit of them).
There’s literally nothing you can do at the moment and i doubt Kabam will change their policy at all in this matter. It’s just unfortunate completely.
If you carry on playing like this you’ll probably get a permanent ban unfortunately

To your original take unauthorized dl have always been against tos kabam until now have not had the techology to detect the source of where their game was downloaded from it is up to you the consumer the customer to read the tos so you know what is and is not allowed why should kabam give any violator a chance to fix their infractions whether knowingly or not that is the violators fault not theirs also a warning would have done nothing since they had it set up to check if an account ever had been installed through an unauthotized means so those accounts would have still been banned

I just read like the first 20 comments and it didnt seem like this was going anywhere, so going to just shut this down.

Kabam created new technology to enforce a rule and issue bans.

This will be unpopular, but it is reality. It is well within Kabam's right to ban all these people as stated in their Terms of Service that all these people agreed to and kabam doesn't have to give them refunds.

Does it suck for the innocent people caught in the crossfire? Of course. However, a few bad actors can ruin everything for everyone else and this is just another one of those situations.
