If its on auto does that mean if someone changes their defender it applies to all maps? Do yall have this setting on auto?

Manual means it wipes out all of your defenders between each war and everyone needs to place each time

No I don't think thats it. I put it on auto and now I can only see one map difficulty in the place defenders screen. I think thats what the auto-clear defenders setting does

Sakuragi's description is what the next setting down in pic would actually be. Auto-Clear Defense (by BG) inbetween wars. Not really useful unless you run less than full 3 BG's, and want to have different people in each war.

Your question of Defense Placement (Manual vs Auto) is hinted based on what you observed and followed up commenting.
MANUAL leave all 3 Tier Difficulty Maps available for everyone to have to place their Defender on a Map Node in *EACH* of the 3 available Tier Maps. (Can actually be different defenders selected by people, as well as on different nodes).

While AUTO gets rid of the (+) / (-) Tier Maps, and as you move Up/Down in Tier Map in future wars, it will carry-over your node placements (both the defender and the node placement) onto the next higher/lower Tier Map from what they had been in the prior map setup.
So that people don’t have to remember to place in all 3, or once you move up one time then have to remember to put them into the now “new” (+) even higher Tier Map in case you continue to move up.

“Auto” is probably more useful in this test season of war (1x10 nodes), that in other seasons (where node buffs are much more different between Tier Maps, and placements may indeed want to be vastly different between them).
