Can some people just start in Gladiator Circuit?

Hey all these 9 and 10 and 12 mil accounts with 100 r3s and 8 r4s, can you just start them in the gc? They're going to end up there anyway. What's the point of putting them in the victory circuit? What's the point of feeding progressing accounts to the people that dedicate their life and money to a damn mobile game. Just give them special treatment and special rewards. I'm tired of fighting people that got more r4s than I got r3s. Worst damn match making I've ever seen this season.

Access too is not the same as farming- I’m all for anyone at level “X” being granted instant access. Starting in Vib 2 was great again and not looking forward to pairing with those with 100s of points already next season at the start

Op suggested stronger players start in GC. Any time Kabam wants to start me in GC, I will just park there and farm free radiance forever, because I will not have to ever win a match to promote into GC.

Victory Track Tier-1: those players that ended previous season in G.C., and have to do the “qualifying” rounds in a Tier-1 to get back to G.C.
*Yes, they still start in the “pre-GC” Victory Track (that Platinum starting point) system of ranks/rewards/buffs as they work their way back to G.C. But they just won't be inter-mixed with people who were NOT in G.C. the prior season.

And Victory Track Tier-2: those players that were NOT in G.C. last season. They can still fight their way into G.C. this season, but they would only be competing against other “non-GC” people on their way to doing so.

(Tier-2) *once(if) they reach GC they will then be part of the GC points matching methods against all other GC the rest of season (no more split tiers once in GC). And if they were really too weak to be able to hold their own there, well then next season when they are in Victory Tier-1 they will find it hard to repeat (and probably rightfully) won’t be able to repeat GC and so will go back to Tier-2 the season following that.

***So this method you won't have the situation where depending on WHEN some G.C. people start to play and then getting inter-matched against other lower (non-GC, aka Tier-2 players) who just because they want to start playing earlier in the season get a bunch of bad matchups as they reach some higher players that haven’t started advancing much yet in the season.

Just start me in gc. When I was playing the entire time it was tiny rosters I didn’t want to fight because it felt like it was wasting my time. I was literally saying “pls just forfeit” because the reality is I don’t want to fight you either. I just want to get to GC

You can't have two VT to get into the same GC. Kabam tried to make matchmaking fair when BG's first rolled out and it was based on the PI of your deck. Small accounts were reaching GC before the bigger ones were due to an easier path so they changed it. Also didn't help that some of the larger accounts were gaming the system by mixing in 2 stars with their top PI champs. Kabam tried to circumvent that issue with the tiered restart. You're always going to have bigger accounts that don't push high in BG's and get placed in lower VT brackets the following season. It's inevitable.

If the goal is to have people gravitate towards BG's, there should be a positive user experience for all levels of players. Being fodder for big accounts is not an enjoyable experience and neither is waiting 2 weeks into the season in hopes the bigger accounts have moved on. A separate BGs with their own reward structure would be ideal but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I think a better way would be to have brackets. Anyone that has hit GC in the past should be in one everyone else in another. Once you move into GC you go into the other bracket. They have brackets for arena so it can't be impossible. It would be a start at least to better matchmaking.

I dont know why people offer suggestions or changes to Kabaam. They have already made it clear that they don't care what players think. If it doesn't make them money it's not going to change. That's why bugs take forever to be fixed while they will take the game down in a heartbeat If something is pro player.

People aren't getting easy passes to the GC. That's not a thing now. Trust me. I was one of the people who started in V2, and I'm getting bashed about. Two weeks of a garbage Power Gain meta and Rosters full of R4s using me as a springboard.
Not that I necessarily think the OP's suggestion is viable. I just want to dispel that myth entirely. Larger Accounts are still hanging around the VT. I've seen a total of maybe 3 reasonable Matches. So I keep grinding with little progress. I doubt anyone is getting a free ride.

Because not only they botched seeding, they also botched the point system for the alliance event. So yeah after all the intentions to buff rewards, makes things better and all we are back to people farming in VT.
Sometimes Kabam's solutions make things worse. Extending the ammount of time to get the 100 points objectives just gave point farmers a few more days to hang around VT getting more points with Elder marks than they would in GC.

Yeah, not to mention it makes for easy pickings when they forfeit to farm, then make a final push for the GC before the Objectives disappear. It's like delayed farming.

In practice, I don't see this actually working. It sounds simple, but when I play this out in a thought experiment it seems to fall apart. For example, the reason we don't match players by roster is the simple fact that we end up with giving lower progress players an easier path to GC. This doesn't sound like it does, until you realize that Tier 2 approximates this: you're filtering out all the players who ended in GC last season which will be skewed towards stronger rosters.

You might say this can only happen once, because if they happen to get into GC, they'll be in Tier 1 next season. But then they can just take that season off: play a couple matches and then quit, and simply reset for the following season where they will be seated back into Tier 2 (you even mention this as a positive of the system). Weaker players will have an easier path to GC than they do now, and much easier than a lot of stronger players, if they just play every other season.

And then you realize anyone smart enough to understand this can implement this strategy deliberately. A strong roster player who just wants easy rewards can simulate this behavior, slide into GC by being a very strong player in Tier 2, and when they get to GC take the next season off (if you implement a participation requirement, simply play the minimum) to demote themselves back to Tier 2. So now you will literally have players farming Tier 2 for easier wins.

When it works as intended, I believe this generates unacceptable results. But it may never work as intended, because players will likely learn how to exploit it.

M1+ players probably yeah. Just make them start V2. They already grind enough to cover a whole years worth of Victory Track matches in one season.

You laugh, but if I could I would gladly take credit for the monetization system for MCOC. I can't, but if you want to blame me for designing the monetization of a free to play game that:

a) does not paywall progression, and has skilled players capable of speedrunning to the top progression title in less than a week without spending or even grinding the game significantly

b) allows free to play players to grind thousands of dollars worth of premium in-game currency a year without the entire game economy falling apart

c) convinces a small minority of spenders to spend huge amounts of money for things knowing I will be giving almost all of them away to players in a relatively short period of time

d) which allows the vast majority of players to play completely for free

e) while allowing those free to play players to access almost all the content, almost all the rewards, and even be competitive in all competitive game modes

By all means, please do. I would put it on my resume if I thought I could get away with it.

You see useless deals. I see deals that subsidize the vast majority of the playerbase to be able to play the game without having to spend. Those deals are not useless. They exist for the few spenders that spend, and also for the hundreds of thousands of players who play the game without spending. I would say that's highly useful.

MCOC is not a perfect game. There's a lot of things I would not want to take credit/blame for. But blaming me for the monetization of the game is like blaming me for sunshine. You're trying to create an insult out of something that everyone needs, everyone benefits from, and if you personally don't like it, wear a hat.
