Titan Crystal RNG is Just Brutal – Disappointed as an FTP Player

As a free-to-play (FTP) player in MCoC, saving up Titan Crystals takes a lot of time, effort, and strategy. So when the moment finally comes to open them, there’s a lot of hope – especially with the promise of new champions in the updated pool. But the reality? It’s been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing.

First off, the Titan Crystal pool update timeline being pushed from 2 months to 3 months already feels like a setback. And when you finally reach the milestone of having enough to open a batch… the RNG slaps hard.

I popped open 6 Titan Crystals and here’s what I got:
🔁 2x Spider-Supreme (dupes)
🔁 2x Spiral (dupes)
🔁 1x Zola (dupe)
🔁 1x Cyclops (dupe)

Okay, maybe the Nexus will give me some luck, right? Nope. The options were: Spider-Supreme, Zola, and Falcon. Again, nothing new.

Tried my luck with 2 more Titan Crystals:
🔁 Back-to-back Cyclops.

Out of 10 Titan Crystals, I got only one new champion– and it’s not even someone worth the grind.

Something feels seriously off with the RNG. It’s demoralizing to invest so much time as an FTP player just to end up with dupes of the same old champs. If the pool is updated, shouldn’t we have a higher drop rate for the newly added champions? That would actually make the Titan Crystal worth chasing and exciting to open.

Kabam, if you’re listening – please consider:
🔹 Higher drop rate for newly added champions in Titan Crystals
🔹 Improved RNG transparency
🔹 Better balancing to make the effort worth it

This isn’t just about luck – it’s about fairness and rewarding dedication. FTP players already walk a tougher road – don’t make the destination feel pointless too.

It's rng brother, sometimes you get 💩 on. I opened 8 titans on reset and only got spiderwoman from the new pool, the rest being sigs on champs from the pool that will leave next cycle and a new red hulk (woo 🙄).

Being ftp has nothing to do with it. You opened 9 titans total as well, that doesn't sound like the shards were really that hard to get for you tbh.

You just got a bad opening.

You chalk it up and move on. I'm saving all mine the next reset so I'll be getting mostly new champs from my pulls.

This is how RNG works. Sometimes you’re lucky and sometimes you’re not. If the drop rates were improved then the spenders will just get more new champs faster and create a bigger gap between them and F2P. Like the above comment said, you didn’t exactly struggle to collect titan crystals. Collect some more and try again, you’ll get the new champs eventually.

I’ve had my fair share of bad openings. This last opening though I got really lucky and pulled every champ from the new pool. Just keep trying.

I understand the frustration. I've been waiting 10 years for Jean Grey and Spider Woman to join the contest, and I had 4 Titan crystals and I pulled Gentle, Red Hulk, and Falcon all in one open.

Then a few days later I got Okoye and without even knowing anything about her, took her up to R3. Played around with her a bit and she was just killing people left and right...absolutely obliterating them.

So I didn't get who I want, and I mostly got duds (to me), but that's the nature of the Titan. It all balances out over time.

If it gives you any solace, I have duped Red Hulk and have falcon and spider supreme from Titans. Far worse IMO then what you got.

What does being ftp have to do with anything? Everyone puts a lot of "time, effort, and strategy" into getting shards for Titans. They don't rain down once you buy something. Your unwillingness to spend money on the game doesn't and shouldn't get you special considerations and opportunities above anyone else that is willing to. You walk a tougher road entirely of your own making and then keep going on about it being tough.

I mean, it's objectively easier to get titan shards as a whale (see Poolshields and J4 deals) so adding 'F2P' just implies that they exclusively grinded them out. Not necessary to throw out there but it does make some sense.
