How to Not Lose Points to Modders

TotemCorruptionTotemCorruption Member Posts: 2,991 ★★★★★
I guess if you're a big shot CC, someone from Kabam will jump in during your stream and immediately ban your cheater opponent to make sure you don't lose any points.
And for the rest of us, we just have to lose the points, use the report button, and then never get any compensation or redress.
Got it!

    They're competing for the brawl

I just happened to be watching this yesterday. Absolutely wild that happened.

I only caught wind of it because someone mentioned it on Nick136's stream, that's the only CC I watch these days, along with Bero if I have the time.

Haven't there also been rumors that if you're a whale who gets caught modding multiple times, you'll never get permabanned, even if an FTP would've under the same circumstances?

    Become a big shot CC

I don’t know about the whale immunity rumors, but the Lagacy stream was so weird I almost couldn’t believe it. Mike and Fintech both in the stream, lagacy’s opponent definitely seemed to be modding in round 1, and then they were just shut down before round 2 was even finished. From 400+ to 0 points immediately.

I mean, I'm happy this cheater got banned, but he was in Celestial when he faced Lags.
So think about all the players who lost points to him along the way and will never get any redress for it, except for Lags, who gets to just avoid it because his Kabam buddies want to help him.
What happened to the whole "It's a process, use the report button, it has to go through the proper channels, etc."?
I mean, if you can live stream every match and also happen to have an employee watching, this might happen to you too.

The other thing happens otherwise too. It's not only for "big shots", miike, pinwheel , jax and others have personally helped solve account issues of those who post on the forums(regular players. Not even forum regulars) without having to go throught the whole support process.

But the other system exists because they can't personally intervene for every single issue.

Happens in other games too. All the streamers have connections with the devs. Lagacy is the second biggest mcoc YouTuber, obviously he's going to have priority over regular players.

Right, but it's one thing for Lags to get account support on the spot, and for regular players to have to submit a ticket and get support the next day. No issue with that.

But here, he basically gets special protection from losing points to a modder, while other players have to lose points and never get any compensation.

    Different things.

And I mean, last season C1 and C2 finished with the same points. So every point matters, whether you're competing for the brawl or trying to push into a higher tier for radiance.

So I am guessing the "alternate source" of download technology to detect cheaters was a bust?...

It wasn't though. It did reduce the amount of them. There won't ever be a way to completely eradicate them. They'll keep coming back

I'm saying that bypassing "proper channels" can happen for regular players too. Not just for Lags or other youtubers. You just have to be noticed .

The debate of what happens to points when facing a modder is not so simple.

If any player were to face 10 modders over the course of a season, should they be given a flat 150 point bonus at the end of a season? It's not simple and I assume Kabam would rather spent the time to ban and find cheaters than open that can of worms

It should, unless every cheater has the knowledge to code in their own cheat. That legitimate source detection should work just fine.

I think people are missing the point. Lagacy is a player that is competing at the top of the game to go to and participate in the biggest event thrown for it. He just happens to also be a popular youtuber who had a benefit of a kabam employee watching his stream when it happened.
It's not favoritism. It's a mix of coincidence due to circumstances and the brawl. If kabam happens to see someone blatantly cheating, especially at that level for this event, theyre going to pull the trigger immediately

I dunno, I agree with scuffed Sigmund Freud on this one cause he is not talking about psychology.
I assume this stream was after officer hours?... This should have been taken care at the next day in the office... I mean he did cheat a bunch of people worth of 400 points already, what's 1 more even if its on stream?...
Unless they think its a good way to show that cheaters should watch out?..

I didn't have anything to do with this one. But from my perspective, if I know someone is cheating, I'm going to ban them as soon as I can. If it benefits someone then lucky them.

The only exception is I don't extend this courtesy to myself, since I know most of the time players don't get it. So if someone mods against me in Battlegrounds, I wait until I take the L and then I ban them. I also wonder wtf they were thinking since I have the Kabam banner on my profile picture now but I guess that's another story.

    Interesting context and perspective.

You guys should issue ban reports, just summary stats, after each season.

Yeah I remember that stream from yesterday. I didn’t think they were a modder at first because of their username and thought they were just trolling.

I'm with kabam's side on this one.
As Desi said it's a mere coincidence.
Crashed is one of us on modding problem.

I hope the anti cheat team gets more tools and manpower to fight this battle. It's genuinily never-ending battle.

I hope they also make effort to ban players modding contnet, that's where modders journey start which pave their way into bgs.
  • Herbal_TaxmanHerbal_Taxman Member Posts: 2,687 ★★★★★
Could be coincidence, maybe not. We have no way to know. That’s why I’d like to know the scale of their actual ban activities. If they are banning 10,000 modders per season, I’m much more apt to believe that someone was just on the ball and took care of Lags opponent in a prompt manner.

It can't. It's literally impossible to come up with a way that gets rid of cheaters forever. As long as the game is popular enough for people to try, there will be
  • SirGamesBondSirGamesBond Member Posts: 8,213 ★★★★★
I faced few modders this season as I played more than usual.. but we can't control them.
Any moddder getting banned, I see it as a win.

Maybe fintech pulled it off. He is rocking his new Dev tag now. The enthuastic new member in the team, who knows. Or it was Mike, who probably has seniority and more active presence in the office.

    Outside that,
We have ccps in line chats, we forward modders screenshots to them. They forward those to kabam. The modders still gets banned in the end.

But if someone was caught live like here, they better get banned and stopped from doing more damage.

How is kabam supposed to ban a cheater midway our matches.
Let's assume a random player matched with a modder and let's assume(from pure imagination) thier ign is totem.
    Is this player totem streaming?
Is someone from kabam watching this stream?
Is Kabam magically supposed to know that a modder needs to be banned?

    Here's more off topic info.
I don't care about Lags. But I have always been vocal vs cheating. I used to submit tickets of cheaters, Those tickets always resulted in a ban, some took a week and some few days. But then the new Korean ceo guy took over, he changed policies and modders roamed free. They stopped banning them and I stopped submitting tickets.
I'm happy that, that is not the case anymore as cheaters are taken seriously again.
    But
Not satisfied on the content cheaters, they are roaming free these days and have grown in numbers.
