I have to give it when it’s actually due. I just read through the dev diary. If this is in fact how kabam moves forward then I give a kudos to the team. Acknowledging especially September, but also the last few months being horrible is something I haven’t seen in a while. Acknowledgment that you heard us. I’m interested to see if fumble really does do as well as ensnare offensively, but that will be once it goes live. I am one who invested heavily in spider woman to r4 and sigs so I do hope so. Now if the team does follow through with this and does follow through with the transparency I can see a long lasting game with good coexistence between players and the game team. Here’s to hoping and if so good job.

100% valid opinion. All we can do now is execute on this plan, know that's needed for folks to take it seriously. Think the first step of that, the comp Mike mentioned for Friday, will be a very solid first step, with more steps coming soon after in the next update. It's October 1st, we're def ready to leave September behind!

Dont know where else to post this feedback but I feel like the livestream on Friday should start with at least a very short acknowledgement of the current state of things.

If it just immediately goes into hyping up things to come without addressing anything it'll probably really rub people the wrong way

What I got from the dev diary is “ we didn’t intend for spider woman to be as much of a defender as she is currently acting”(paraphrase) but that also means(to me) they did intend Serpent, Bullseye, and Enchantress(to name a few) to be the defenders they are.

Appreciate it, spent a lot of time working on it the past few days.

I see people talking about Defenders, a big part of this update for Spider-Woman was because she was overperforming on Defense - and we are feeling the same way about the oversaturation of Defenders as all of you.

The Comp was brought up here as well - this will of course be subjective, but I think you will be pleased with it.

I'll be touching on the Dev Diary and the changes outlined in the beginning of the Stream, especially regarding EQ and Elders Marks. Not going to spend too much time on it, but it will be there.

They've acknowledged stuff before and still ended up blowing it anyways, highly suggest you hold off and see how things move forward before actually praising anyone. There are multiple concerns that haven't been addressed still and until they are, this whole situation isn't over

I don’t understand why so many are so willing to accept the promises of a company that has made the same promises and failed to deliver dozens of times over already

If you want me to believe there needs to be institutional changes, managers with decision making authority having that removed, members of the quest design and champ rebalance teams being reassigned away from their current roles, any employees with ANY interest in having a public facing persona undergoing some form of PR training to avoid making comments that enflame an already hot situation

I see 1 massive win and its the energy to elder mark trade (if i read correctly), makes time management a lot better.

The rest we will see, for me the relationship with the game is so far apart that even a middle ground is gonna take a lot to reach.

I’m very happy they gave swoman back her evade counter, this was the big thing for me. And while much of the message is great and I’m glad they posted it, there’s still a lot that needs to be done, as said above. I’m going into Friday a tad skeptical, but certainly less so than I was before the dev diary 🙌🏼

I’m in the actions are louder than words camp. I don’t think the SpiderWomsn change is more than a step towards the middle as but I never expected the team to change their mind on this… and after the previous post I’m still skeptical of the honesty on this issue too. Sorry it’s just the lasting impression this caused.

Adaptive EQ… I noticed that the loud feedback given about the crusty stale 4+year old nodes wasn’t mentioned. I personally am disappointed to read that the team is “happy” with where Elder difficulty ended up… it’s still really bad content. And I mean this constructively, longer versions of fights I’ve done 40 or times now with nodes built to highlight class abilities that aren’t current is not a good landing place… and I know I’m not alone in this criticism.

I do appreciate the effort here but… it doesn’t feel like much is really changing or at least not enough for a compensation package to really matter in the long run.

AI, lag and bugs are probably gonna remain a mess… I mean Dust has been a frame rate hog for over 18 months and it’s not even acknowledged… sorry I don’t mean to kick the gift horse but the back log of problems is longer than just the last few months… recent issues are just the final straws on the camel’s back.

What you're asking for here is essentially every person on staff doing something else; that's not a realistic solution, and doesn't ultimately solve the issues at hand. That would actually likely cause greater issues at the end of the day.

At this point, all we can do is outline our path forward and how we plan to make the game better in the steps to get there. Everything starts with a plan, and nothing can be fixed overnight.

They're both up for 7 seconds every 15 seconds, except the Ensnare can be purified / cleansed / etc.
She's effectively a stronger Evade counter now.

The nodes in EQ absolutely need a facelift to keep up with the current meta of the game, and that's something that we are looking to update as well. I was referring to the tuning of Attack / Health in Elder, not the outdated nodes.

Appreciate the acknowledgment on EQ, hopefully that facelift is scheduled soon, because the attack values were just small part of the disappointment that is that content.

Honestly, I think it was very genuine. Thank you Rex. Nobody gets it right every time. Acknowledging when you don’t is important. You don’t have an easy job and some people will never be happy no matter what.
The game has taken a major step backwards this summer. Hope you guys can get it back on track.

I’ll preface this by saying that my opinion here as a player isn’t, and shouldn’t usually be listened to or really be respected.

I mostly just post drunk rants.

But September in terms of actual gameplay was pretty bad.

There wasn’t much I wanted to do, or felt any kind of satisfaction from doing regarding gameplay. And I suspect a lot of others felt the same.

it’s obviously impossible to please all players.

But that last month was brutal.

It’s probably mostly long term and endgame players here in the forums that are focusing on the Spider-Woman thing.

But there are a majority of other players that just want to play and used to like having a challenge to try and beat a monthly EQ for some rewards.

Now, hardly any of those players want to touch it.

Agreed 100%. At the end of the day, this is all just walking back bad decisions. Wish something would go right out of the gate soon.

Reading the Dev Diary I was pretty sad. The only takeaway I got was that kabam has to dedicate months of effort (stretching into next year) simply undoing their own bad decisions. At best the game is coming out of this net neutral with absolutely no proactive improvements to speak of. AI issues which have gone on for 4+ YEARS? Nope. Game stability? Nah. Defender balance at large? See you for the next pre release! Walking back your own decisions is just a sign of the times im afraid. Kabam is out of touch

And what about forcing us to fight 15-20 fights before the boss and zero health replenish between fights unless its revives/potions? Monthly eq isnt everest content.

I am happy Kabam has at least acknowledged they've made a mistake with the spider woman situation. In fairness, nobody's perfect and everyone makes mistakes. The fact that they responded to the feedback shows they still do care about the players who play and support Marvel Contest of champions, which is, if I'm not mistaken, their biggest mobile game ever. As a player who is a hardcore marvel fan and supports this game with my time and money I am at satisfied with the dev diary on this situation.

We want Elder to be a little challenging for players who don't want to explore the standard EQ format.
If you aren't a fan of Elder, Classic will be there in the old format like it always has been.

We need to create different content for different styles of players.

That's all well and fine, but again, any format of monthly content should not be equivalent to everest content. That's what everest content is for. Monthly content is meant to be quick or somewhat quick. And it seems like you guys are forgetting that part.

You bring up a great point. The lines between what content belongs where in the grand scheme things is beyond muddy. I mean look at the relationship between EQ and Story content now… 9.3 was a joke compared to EQ… that’s bass ackwards and it seems silly. This is the only game I’ve ever played where progressive story chapters are now getting easier… and the monthly training ground for the next chapter is harder than the content itself supposed to prepare us for… it’s a new problem that seems completely missed.

Btw Mike if you're still here, thanks for thinking about this situation for the last couple of days. I know this dev diary must've taken a lot of time to properly write. I can't imagine how hard you work at Kabam to make sure the game is still going strong. To end on a positive, I'm looking forward to the october stream to see my favorite marvel vampire in action.

is there a reason that ensnare has to be removed? If it’s really about defense then just turn it off during when she is placed as a defender. Several champions already have abilities that only work from one side of the battle (Enchantress, Karolina, Serpent and Nico to name a few) so why not implement that here. I get that there is a plus side to placing anti-evade behind a severe debuff but on offense I enjoy the chance to maybe turn off abilities. Also in my opinion that is the most “middle of the road” we can get, Kabam gets to remove it from defense and we get to keep it offensively.
