Thoughts on Rebalance Program ending?

This is beyond shady…. Bunch of frauds smh. And STILL ruining spider woman???? Literally wth.
I’ve never actually considered quitting the game but this is very frustrating. People are already talking a lot about this, and not in a good way. Anyone have any positive views on this?

The game continues to have one foot in the grave. Marvel's popularity has seriously declined. MCOC is nothing but creative void of money grabs at this point.

I don't have a problem with champs getting tuned down.

I am more unhappy about champs not getting tuned UP!

Let's not forget, some of the beneficiaries if the rebalance program include Shuri and Attuma, both of whom got great Tune-ups. Even Dani and Patriot got better; if still mid-tier.

That’s true. Good point. I guess another positive perspective is that now new champs can be ranked up without fear of nerfs… the timing is what makes this so shady. If they’d have announced an end date, maybe after the new year or something, I don’t think there’d be such an uproar. They couldn’t do it this way because, like KT said, they “backed themselves into a corner.”

Balance program never should've happened in the first place. They created the problem of what it didn't do by doing what they did do.

To be honest if I’m being completely honest, I think they should go down to releasing one champion every month instead of two and take that extra time and just make it so that when something comes out, that’s it. That’s what it is. If it runs a muck, it runs a muck. Only under the most severe circumstances should there ever be a change which hopefully they wouldn’t given their extra.

This all loops back to not doing what should have been done to Serpent — some of us saw this coming and begged for that kit to be nerfed and for Kalamazoo to abandon the path that saw the creation of kits like that: elite defenders with BS mechanics that are unavoidable and have few — if any — counters upon release.

Once game design leaned into “specific counters for specific kits or you will either lose or time out in BGs,” Rebalance was cooked. Game balance was cooked.

Can I fight Enchantress? Yes, I know how to fight the base kit.

Is it fun to fight the base Enchantress kit, depending on nodes/time limits?

No. No. NO.

So then instead of Falcon (Joaquin Torres) having whatever kit design would best fit his character, you instead have to jam all the mechanics in to make it an Enchantress counter…but that kit was too weak and Enchantress was still too strong.

See what I mean? Problems that were made by one kit design, that hurt another kit design, then you need to rebalance the kit that couldn’t solve the problem that releasing the first kit that was overtuned defensively made.

Not nerfing Serpent and releasing 5/5 defenders has made this game worse to play and far less fun.

Everyone knows it. Everyone.

Dropping the Rebalance Program — which took too long to examine and implement changes anyway — doesn’t solve the core problem that we have now:

Every character that gets released has to deal with the existence of these 5/5 defenders, or they are basically worthless.

It should never have been allowed and some of us begged Kabam not to do it.

I barely post here but seeing the official post on the rebalance program, and reading the sentence "we reserve the right to adjust Champions if they're critically impacting game health.", just makes my blood BOILS. Get your own **** together before you flaunt what's your right in front of people.

This basically giving the middle finger to the entire player base, saying they have every power to make changes to any champ in any way they want, as long as they label it as "critically impacting game health".

Such total bloody nonsense. Seriously, if a champ that would critically impacting game health is being released as he/she is, the person who designed it needs to be FIRED IMMEDIATELY, whoever approved the champ, did any kind of pre-release QA on the champ etc, also need to be under serious reprimand and held accountable for such foul up also. That's it. A champ should never be release as broken or OP, no matter the champ is behind paywall or not.

I was a long time player returned to the game last year, I guess I was making a huge mistake seeing how the dev team put out statements and responses like this that are insults to players intelligence. Also judging from the numerous pain points the community has and highlighted by many prominent content creators in the past few months. Things are just insufferable.

can you be clear what they have done since the beginning? I mentioned I am a returning player, I have a few years of not touching the game at all. When I left the game 6* was just introduced, so I don't know 12.0 and I don't normally remember update number anyway.

At the end of the day, what's your point? are you trying to say my complaint and grievance about Kabam's actions are unjust or baseless?

They are silly. Kabam has always changed things when they saw fit. 12.0 was an update long before 6* ever came out. It happened just before 5* came out. Theres no way you dont remember that update. It changed how the game fundamentally works. Kabam owns the game. None of us do or have any say in what happens. The only way you have a voice, is with your wallet and time. You can complain on forums and discord all you want, it will not change anything. At least, not the way you want it to. All it will do is get kabam to MAYBE meet you halfway. Its been 11 years and that is the only thing that has stayed constant.

They had a cadence for rebalancing Champs that they used for quite some time, and they decided it's no longer fitting to continue it. So they're letting us know ahead of time.

That's literally the opposite of shady.

To be fair the current balance team had its flaws, it wasn’t entirely flawless

Them quitting the balance program is kinda predictable after the Spiderwoman fiasco and Dark Phoenix. If DP was nerfed, whales would demand for their money. If she wasn’t nerfed, others would still complain

I think there's some slight misunderstanding of what's actually happening here.

We aren't taking a step backwards in Kabam/Player communication.
We're ending a system that, ultimately, has not been working well, and moving back to when we released Champions and didn't potentially change them 6 months after release (recently much longer, due to batches). In fact, this direction was communicated within 16 hours after the decision was finalized.

We're going to be evaluating new systems that work better for the game and the Community to keep the meta in a healthy place, and we're going to be spending time evaluating multiple avenues of this and keep you updated well in advance of anything changing.

My worry is we go back to the days of surprise nerfs/changes like Moleman due to ‘champion bugs’, that were left untouched for up to, and over 12 months. At least the current process has some stability.

Genuine question: how does the incoming nerf "ruin" Spider-Woman? I have an easier time understanding those who were upset over her ability to counter evade disappearing since that was a guaranteed piece of utility (even if it's only on for about 40% of the fight). However, no matter how I view it, I can't see how the ability accuracy reduction was anything but terribly unreliable. The ability accuracy reduction isn't active for 60% of the fight, and then it doesn't kick in 70% of the time that it is active. Some people seem so genuinely attached to that piece of utility, but I've never really understood the charm. At least not to the extent that removing it would "ruin" Spider-Woman.

For example, I love Ensnare on Okoye, but if Kabam gave her the same retuning that they gave SW, I wouldn't bat an eye. I love the evade shut-down aspect of Ensnare, but I still think that the ability accuracy reduction is way too unreliable for me to care too much about it. Even more so when I'm not in direct control of when it triggers.

But like I said, it's a genuine question. I'm not saying you're wrong for thinking that way or anything. I'm just curious what your reasoning is when it comes to this.
