Onslaught Origin

I know I probably sound a bit bad on my part, but I honesty had no idea who some of the characters were before being added to the contest like Serpent and onslaught etc…

But I got a marvel unlimited subscription to try and delve into them. The birth of onslaught is such a great story and is actually crazy. He’s such a well thought out character in the comics 😅

One of the very few good things the Onslaught Saga did was clearing the ground for the Thunderbolts, imho.

The Onslaught event in comics was pretty nice, and filled a lot of past plotholes, like the reason/backstory behind Bishop's timeline. My 5th best after AoA, Phoenix Saga, Krakoa and Inferno.

The writers had no idea who he was. Scott Lobdell (IIRC) just came up with the idea of Juggernaut getting punched a really long way by some unknown enemy and croaking out "Onslaught" as to who hit him and that was it. No idea who Onslaught was. They then had to come up with something.

Onslaught was honestly a muddled mess and the whole event was bloated and convoluted, an increasing trend in the 90's.

The Joe Mad art however is gorgeous and these were the first comics I was collecting regularly as a kid.

It looks like the X-Men '97 Cartoon series is going to delve into the Onslaught story as well :)

I'd quit reading X-Men by the time of Onslaught. I stopped reading X-Men and X-Force when they were doing the Generation Next crossover that introduced Synch, M, Husk's abilities, Blink and the Phalanx.
