Name your first R5

We will be getting our first R5 sometime this winter (unless you whaled out during banquet). So who are you going to choose from your roster?
My first R4 was Spider-Punk, he put in serious work against Ares and other EoP fights, so when I got a science R4 gem, I had to give it to him.
No regrets, and he is sig 200 now, but I just don't really use him much unless there is an intercept or invade node or something.

For my first R5, I am leaning towards Captain Britain.
We all know she's a toxic unavoidable damage defender, and that with the SP3 skip she can hit hard as a BG attacker too.
But maybe I'm late to the party, but I've just started utilizing her safeguard and it's pretty broken.
Basically, you can limit any SP3 damage to 3% as long as it doesn't have DOTs.
I tried her against Photon in a practice match and took two SP3s from her and basically drained her power while she was in Pure Light Form.
She also limits Serpent's SP3 to 3%, you just have to make sure the block damage from his previous specials didn't put your safeguard on cooldown.

First r5 is likely going to be a class gem for peasants, so it depends mostly on class, but here are my options atm

Mutie - Sinister (my first r4)

Skill - idk, okoye bullseye or my boii attuma

Science - likely spam or swomen

Mystic - nico or wiccan

Cosmic - dthanos

Tech - bastigoat

Does she need sigs for attack? It won't affect her Safeguard or the yellow crit numbers from her SP2, but I would say she should be sig 200 because (1) she's a top 3 overall champ right now; and (2) the high sig increases your neuroshocks and reduces opponent energy resistance to 0, which is what makes her a toxic defender but also will boost your damage in harder matchups as an attacker.

Here she is against Serpent (the damage mostly came from eating a couple of basics, not the SP3s, which safeguard protected me from).

Of course, I'm not saying she's a better Photon counter than Mantis or CB, or a better Serpent counter than Kushala or Spiral. But the fact that she's a top defender who you can turn around if needed and use on attack against top defenders is pretty crazy.

I absolutely love Spidey Supreme, so he'd could definitely go up there. Karolina Dean and X-23 are probably my favorite champions to play of the year, so Karolina might go up as well. Or maybe Modok. He has been one of my favorite champs in the game for the longest time (even way before his buff), and although I was a little disappointed in how little his buff did on the attacker side of things, he still does a great job as a defender.

Scorpion 100000% for me. As a fun rank up and a personal favourite villain. Jean grey will be a close second and abs man or serpent are in the mix for me but I haven’t got serpent awakened yet so that’s a bit tough to decide

Until I can get a Nico I am starting to lean heavily towards Ironheart. She has amazing utility, damage, immunities and resistances and can take matches you'd never expect her to if played right. Plus she's somehow a very good defender as I haven't lost a single match where I placed her on defense (out of a lack of options, she's usually not a defender).

Ironheart will definitely be my first Tech R5. Hella fun to play & everything you mentioned. I'd have to think about the other classes, but Ironheart is a no brainer for me

I also plan on being super toxic and making Britain my first R5. Sticking to the toxic theme I'd probably do Photon or Dark Phoenix for science & cosmic. Mystic would be Tigra but I'd probably wait until I had enough for 4 R4s to do her so there'd be a chance people wouldn't ban her. Skill and tech I don't know who I'd take

Knull is my favorite character, so he'll be the first. For the remaining classes:

Onslaught (bad and badass)

Dottor Strange (if the buff is really good)

Bastion ( maybe it's the fault of the x men 97 series but it's really strong and cool)

Photon (powerfull and simple to use)

For the skill, I'm undecided between Okoye and Kingpin (a difficult choice because I love both of them)
