Formal Feedback Regarding Adaptive Event Quest (EQ) Mechanics
Dear Kabam Team,
I am writing to express significant concerns regarding the recent implementation of Adaptive Event Quest mechanics. While I appreciate the effort to innovate, the current direction is negatively impacting the player experience for a large portion of the community.
Below is a breakdown of why this change feels like a step backward for Marvel Contest of Champions:
1. The Removal of Player Choice
One of the core pillars of MCOC is the ability for players to choose how they approach content. By forcing adaptive mechanics, you are effectively removing that choice. While some may enjoy a high-stress challenge, many players find these forced changes frustrating rather than engaging. Forcing a "one-way" playstyle ruins the fun for those who simply want to enjoy the game their own way.
2. Restricting Play with "Fan Favorites"
Many Summoners have deep rosters and very powerful champions, yet they often choose to play with their favorite lower-star characters for nostalgia or personal enjoyment. The Adaptive EQ punishes this "chill" playstyle. Players should be able to use their favorite champions—regardless of their star rating or the current meta—without being penalized by an scaling system that makes casual play impossible.
3. Devaluing Progression and Crystals
The Adaptive EQ system creates a paradox that erases the "rewarding feeling" of growth:
Upgrading: Why rank up champions if the content simply adapts to negate that power?
Crystals: Opening crystals should be an exciting moment of progress. Instead, it is becoming stressful because a stronger roster often leads to more "terrifying" and tedious battles rather than a sense of dominance.
4. Respecting the "Adult" Player Base
A significant portion of your player base consists of adults with careers and families. We do not have the time or the mental energy for endless, stressful, adaptive battles that require maximum effort for every single fight. Our gaming time is limited; we want to prioritize our effort for competitive modes like Alliance War or Battlegrounds, while using EQ as a place to unwind.
5. Reintroducing the "Comfort Zone"
For the longevity of the game, players must have a "comfort zone." Constantly forcing players into tough, adaptive encounters ruins the entertainment value of the game. We strongly urge you to re-introduce player choice in Event Quests by:
Offering traditional difficulty paths alongside adaptive ones.
Ensuring that high-rank champions provide a tangible advantage rather than a scaled-up challenge.
Conclusion
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Kabam team, forcing players into high-stress environments at all times ruins the spirit of the game. We ask that you listen to the community and return the "fun" to the Event Quests by respecting our time, our rosters, and our choices.
Give us access for lower difficulties in EQ kabam.
Sincerely,
Micheal
