Whales Complaining About Radiance Store

So I've been seeing this a lot lately, whales complaining that there is nothing for them to spend their radiance on that's worth having.

It's ironic to me because these are basically players who have spent thousands on the game, in dollars and hours, and basically have purchased so much resources that the radiance they compete for is basically useless to them.

And in the process they gatekeep PvP modes from normal players who actually need and value the radiance, the same radiance these whales have no use for.

And instead of reflecting on their own sunk cost foolishness, i.e., that they were baited into spending to chase a currency that is meaningless at their spending levels anyway, they blame the system for not feeding their addiction quickly and powerfully enough.

TL:DR ---- Whales spent thousands of dollars to get R5s in banquet only to realize that the advantage they bought is for ego rewards, not actual rewards that matter when you spend that much anyway.

As someone who competed at the highest levels years ago and is just a casual now, I think you seem to misunderstand people's motivations in spending and grinding.

The players at the top would still be spending and grinding even if there were no rewards.

This was exactly the situation with Battlegrounds for a long time before the advent of radiance, and the top Celestial players today were still mostly playing and spending at similar levels back then, despite the lack of rewards.

The top players will complain about lack of rewards, but rewards are not why they spend and grind. They do it for personal needs/reasons separate from the game economy.

I think the ones who are complaining are the FTP players who cant get the same resources in Radiance Store as those whales… They are unable to catch up with the whales.. The whales dont really care with the ingame "currencies" as they will splash real cash to reach the levels they want..

If someone has a need to be competitive in something, and nothing real in their life offers that validation, they will try to fill that hole wherever available, including a gacha mobile game.

Maybe I'm weird, but I play strictly for the rewards. If I can secure Mysterium most seasons, that's what I aim for. I like this game obviously, but I don't have the time/skill/desire/need to be elite in Marvel Contest of Champions (lol).

I don't understand this thread. OP, the banquet dropped the value of t7b big time, and you see that in the radiance store. Many players got 10+ r4s or maybe more during the event, and a full t7b is no longer worth 100k radiance anymore. That's not ego, that's just the market.

I am by no means a whale. I spend 50.000 units on banquet. All from arena. Currently I am at 32 rank 4 champs and I can r4 another 11 champs. T7b is by not worth all the raidiance for me anymore

You're complaining about the price of T7B, but my post is talking about the top whales complaining that they have hundreds of thousands of radiance and nothing they need to buy in the radiance store.

Separate issues. They have enough radiance to buy T7B, but they have T7Bs in overflow and R4 gems too.

But as to your point, T7B was always overpriced, and it's even more ridiculous now. Like, for most of last year (at least after radiance was introduced), I was grinding around 250-300k radiance a month through my Plat 2 alliance and BG efforts, and I never once purchased a T7B in the radiance store. I got the mastery point, sig stones, deathless pieces, T4A, T6CC, T3A/T6B, et cetera.

So the point being, even if the cost of T7B is too high, the radiance store offers many other items. So when the top whales are complaining that they have too much radiance and nothing worth buying, they really should ask themselves two questions:

(1) Why do I have so much radiance? and

(2) Why do I not need anything in the radiance store?

Right, but the post wasn't talking about radiance items being overpriced. The post was referring to complaints that the radiance store doesn't have anything worth buying for people who have more than enough radiance to spend. You and the top whales don't share similar concerns.

Yes prices need to drop all around for everyone but the issue of not having items of value is why Magik is going to be in the radiance store for a ridiculous amount

So let me try to understand some of your points:-

Those spent a lot have a lot of Radiance, I don't remember Kabam selling Radiance, so I assume you mean they got bug account and getting all the highest ranking where Radiance are offered. Yep, that is true and that have always been the case, if it isn't Radiance then rewards, the more your spend the more "advantage" you get in the game. Otherwise it would make sense to spend.
Those that spend a lot in the Banquet can't see anything to buy from the Radiance store, because based on what you say, they have T7B on overflow. I think this would be an exaggeration. How many accounts out these that have R4 all of 7* champions max sig, maybe a handful, so the rest doesn't have resources overflowed and can buy T7B, T4A, T6CC or sig stones.
Those that spent (and not spent) felt the price in the Radiance store it too high, because they got give some in the Banquet. Well overall thing in MCoC always constantly depreciate over time, and with the induction of R5 and soon Ascension, R4 materials are bound to drop in value. So the Radiance store will get updated soon or later, especially with the introduction of Magik.

As I see it Radiance pricing can be consider as an over community sentiment and not just big spender. So not sure why target at only big spender?

Think of it this way.

A company comes and creates a contest to see who can kick a rock the longest distance.

It offers prizes ranging from $1k for first place to $10 for 500th place.

It also sells kicking equipment and distance tokens and other items to basically give you an advantage to win or place high in the contest.

Many of the top "rock kickers" end up spending anywhere from $5k to $50k on these items.

Inevitably, after the contest ends, they start complaining that the top prizes are bad and not worth their efforts and investment.

Meanwhile, free to kick kickers ("F2Ks") and modest budget kickers would really love to get the cash prizes, but outside of a few exceptions (some teenagers who dedicate their lives to becoming the most skilled rock kickers) these people are unable to compete with the big spenders.

Both sides are unhappy generally and the company seems to be the only party happy about the contest.

The problem the top whales have is they literally don't need anything from the radiance store.

They've got 150+ r4s and all their 7s are awakened and at sig 200. They don't need t7b, AGs, sigs, or t4a, let alone the "junk" (t6c, t6b, t3a).

They're only chasing r5 material and so are all the dolphins, seals, and porpoises below them. Banquet dumped a ton of material in the economy and players are chasing things that either don't exist in the radiance store or are too overpriced post-banquet. I still don't get this thread.

On a more serious note tho, r4s are officially the new r3s after Banquet even for those who aren’t whales so naturally the value for a lot of things has dropped. 100k for a full t7b is kinda criminal these days, I don’t think op realizes or understands how fast the game’s economy changes. There is a reason we’re getting like 10 ranks of ascension instead of 8*. I agree tho, barely seen any complaints, I’ve seen a few but blud’s acting like everyone is going crazy right now.

They already have rank5 champs even if kabam don't upadate radiance store recently whales still gonna get more rank5 champs deals and money

So even kabam untouch radiance store it barely matters for whales

The guys who are actually complaining are mostly ftps bcuz radiance store t7 basic is somewhat over priced comparing after banquet rewards

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to elaborate your point, and while I understand what you are saying with your example, guess for me it doesn't represent the situation.

If I were to follow your setting, I would say the.

The Rock kicking competition (would break a leg 🤣), have multiple finish line, some for 100 meters and 200 meters these 2 finish lines are achievable without buy extra equipment or token, each give £100 and £200, then there is a 400 meters that give £1000, but you would really want to buy extra support.

There are also special prize awards for the fast 10 (to the 400 meters), but your would have to buy all the extra equipments, token, power drink and everything in the shop to get there, it will cost an arm and a leg 🤣🤣🤣. But the prize award and priceless. It is 10 super rare not yet release Apple robotic leg. 🤣.

Base on that we can see that big spenders did spend to get T7B but the R5s, the rare champions 1st A, ect. Did they also take those rank rewards 1% and above sure, but that is just the by product, they did paid for that.

And for someone that just wanted to be in the 2%-3%, just so I could have another chance of a Rare Champions Selector, and end up in 4%-5%, I'm very thankful for big spenders, and moderate spenders and FtP, because all are keep this game going in their own way.

As someone that are only Gamma resident and "vulturing" every scrap of T7B fragments, yep for me I would love Radiance store to be lower, and hope that it will soon. But I can't say big spenders is the issue.

As for complainers, well you are around this forum long enough to know there will always be complainers at all spending levels.

No one chase 7*R5 right now because they want to do content, Nagase show you can have fun with any champ. If someone is lucky enough to have T7B in overflow, well good news, we got 2 new champions this monthsl that they can take to R4, and while it is on a hush hush side, I believe there will also be 2 more new champs in Feb too. For the rest of us, we just keep grinding away and hope the the Radiance store get an update soon (and many other stores to be honest).

Bro, I currently have 45 R4s.

I'm not jealous of anyone in this game.

I just don't understand the psychology of the largest spenders/grinders in this game, or Kabam's current approach to the game economy.

I'm not even in an alliance anymore because the grind seems pointless right now.

I know some people agree with my post (from the votes) despite a larger portion of forum people disagreeing, but probably the issue is that this is a conversation that is happening elsewhere, not on this forum, so it was kind of dumb to bring it over here and confuse many of you cretins. So I own that mistake.
