That would seem logical, but …. Shathra beat the Blob and you can rest assured that most people don’t know who she is, and most probably don’t even know there’s a Spiderverse connection (with how many players don’t read Nodes, they definitely are not reading character descriptions).

Same thing with Mr Knight. A niche character of a niche character. You might argue that there is a MCU tv show boost, but it’s not that popular. And that MCU TV boost didn’t help Echo or Bullseye.

And going back to the Hercules day, he won over recognizable X-men.

Of course, there is extenuating circumstances, with votes varying between In-Game and social media. So we can’t neatly draw conclusions on what impacts Summoner’s Choice winners, but we can’t definitively say that “Casual players are just voting for the most popular Franchise characters”.
