masteries have always worked that you apply a mastery loadout to the whole deck so nothing would change there, the deck you edit even if you added 10 champs would still keep the masteries assigned to it
if you ban like that it’s as likely to blow up on your own face as it is your opponents, especially in higher tiers.
I like it as I have roster so I can use other good champion too. But there should be 4 bans for 40 champion deck...as 3 ban was for 30…so it is pretty much logical...
It doesn’t blow up in your face like you think
say what bro
It can yes, but there will be situations occasionally where it works and I don’t know about you, but that will simply piss me tf off. This also seems extremely harmful for smaller accounts who may not even have that many counters for a specific toxic bs defender.
it's stupid is all I'll say.
they messed this up, Dark phoenix, serpent, D-thanos have free passing now they all banning your mystique counters 🤣🤣
BGs is probably the only reason this game is still alive.
Okay. Let's play this out. If that's the way you think it's going to go, wouldn't the common sense play be to ban the cosmics then? Not sure how adding strategy to a game mode is an "extremely stupid change" as you mentioned above
Hey folks, first of all thanks for the opinions and early feedback! We'll be keeping an eye on the thread especially as folks get more hands on time. Do want to just clarify real quick that the change to deck size is just for this season. We mentioned experimenting in the original forum post but have updated it to make the temporary nature of it more clear. Keep the feedback coming and we'll be passing it along to the team. Thanks!
I literally fought full R4 decks in viabranium and I'm not competing just getting into GC
But now people get to ban 5 toxic or P2W champs, which is a complaint I heard a lot, i.e., "there aren't enough bans for all the toxic/P2W champs."
In this mystic nuke meta, you should definitely be running more than 5 mystic attackers. Or ban those three cosmics if you want.
And before you say, but not everyone has 5+ mystics ranked up, I tested this meta out just now, and the fury mystics get is so potent you definitely don't need R4s; R3s cook just fine.
I’ll just sit this one out unless you decide to put a stellar forged piece in there
ok cool and lets just say they ban all your techs and draft domino and britain because you decided to ban every cosmic then what?
Okay, let’s play this out as well, you ban all cosmics but you guessed incorrectly and instead of banning mystics the other person bans Nimrod Maker Prowler Jack Bastion so they can throw down Domino and Britain? This isn’t a problem exclusive to the cosmic class, and it’s not adding strategy at all it’s adding even more luck and draft reliance to a game mode that was already draft and luck reliant enough, it’s essentially killing the skill based aspect and turning it into a draft dependant RNG mess. Yes, these changes are ass in my opinion
Yeah that was my first thought as well and commented it above. The other problem is they are basically obsoleting a lot of existing attackers cause newerly released or buffed champs end up requiring specific counters ( unavoidable damage or safeguard like mechanics) .
If their goal is to broaden and diversify roster value/depth, then the current style of defenders completely contradicts it
They’re acting like cosmic is the only class with bs defenders lol you can apply the same to the skill class with defenders like Yelena and Attuma as well. Ban Jean Onslaught Cassandra DPX and Sinister have fun fighting those two
I’ve rarely heard that complaint, I myself don’t ban Torch and I don’t have him. If people were complaining about that then it was probably players who are on the lower end, and those same players are getting harmed even more than p2w players now because even for defenders like Serpent who everyone has they might not have as many counters as someone with a huge account does. Let’s say they have only three, I ban those three and now I still have I don’t know let’s say Strange and Jane as solid options because my account is on the higher end in terms of size. Smaller accounts will have the Kushalas the Nicos and the Pavs but they probably won’t have the more niche ones I do have, it’s just making the game worse for smaller accounts.
Immediate thought is that the 5 bans slots will force people to either overload on counters or always ban the most oppressive defenders. Dark Phoenix and Cap Britain are examples of defenders that with a couple bans can otherwise become nearly impossible to defeat. If that can be fixed somehow, maybe by limiting the number of bans per class, that would be great! Also not sure how it will impact roster disparity. The deck strength difference between a smaller account and a bigger account will increase, but with the added rerolls it might be easier to draft your strongest champs. Looking forward to experiencing this and having some more knowledgeable people analyze what the effects are. Liam made a great vid talking about roster size and how many R4s you "need" in the 30-size-deck format. Other than that, excited to see how else these changes impact strategizing and deck building. Hopefully it could overall lead to less draft RNG as well.
I hope when it goes back to 30 for following season, that you keep everyone's rosters initially saying (40/30), with all 40 showing (ie, 10 in overflow, but still there), meaning we will have to MANUALLY REMOVE 10 of our champs from Deck. (Won't be playable until you actually get yours back down to just 30).
And NOT that it would either Automatically remove whatever 10 that the Game thinks it should do for you (like either the last 10, or random, or what is then the current bottom 10 in your Deck List).
Or worse yet (0/30) that it starts back at Scratch with ZERO champs in deck and forces you to remember who all you used to have in there and rebuild it from scratch again.
Having more ban slots could also be beneficial for those of us that prefer to ban the most oppressive toxic defenders instead of building our whole rosters around countering them. Actually having some ban slots left to play with is something I'm looking forward to. Let's see how it all plays out. I'm glad they are experimenting with the mode, hoping they are open to feedback.
The match I played this new meta, my opponent got 49k with Wolf against my max Britain.
I think there is definitely more room for scorched earth shenanigans with these changes, but I don't think it's as dire as it seems unless there are big holes in someone's roster that can be exploited.
Odd timing. since Valiant EQ just got switched to requiring a “smaller” deck size while BGs will be switching to a “larger” deck size.
My initial thought is that these changes are too big. Either play around with the number of bans, or the deck size, not both at the same time. There will be too much noise in trying to figure out what is the ideal change.
My other thought is like what others have mentioned - expanding deck size does not magically increase the number of counters to champions like Cap Britain. While the number of bans could help, it is a double edged sword. These changes don’t solve the problem of champions with limited counters.
That is half true because yes there are still ways around certain defenders BUT what are the chances of you drafting exactly what you need? Sure we get three rerolls but it still isn’t guaranteed, it’s adding even more luck and draft reliance to the mode and after last meta that was the last thing we needed.
Also, it’s going to be very easy to exploit those holes against smaller accounts, way easier than it was before and that’s terrible. I don’t even have a small account myself but I know if I did it would make the game mode extremely miserable and I probably would join swiss cheese in his whining and not play at all.
first off mystics are giga boosted so this is a dumb argument. Any normal meta without some massive damage amp this will not be reasonable
I agree to the extent that it would be nice to see Kabam complement these changes with a change in how much thought or understanding they place into BG nodes. Not holding my breath that this will happen however…
@ItsClobberinTime As I said, with this number of 5 bans, it's easy to ban all 5 counters for certain defenders who don't have many counters in-game. They should have created a whitelist so that, for example, two champions of each class can't be banned for both players. Now it's indeed become a draft-dependent game mode instead of a skill-based one
The two champ idea is also terrible, but what they should have done is added a whitelist in which every season there’s one or two champs from each class that can’t be banned. As is tho, this change is horrible yes, and the smaller your account the more detrimental it is.
