“Old” BG:

Matchmaking under “experimental” changes:

I’m a visual learner so I wanted to put this here to gather my own thoughts. First thoughts is that I’m not sure why the deck size was increased by +10, but the ban was only increased by +2.
Under the old BG matchmaking, if both players shared 6 champions and each player banned 3 unique champions, it would leave both players with 24 unique champion selections with a chance to reroll once. Are there still times you can get out drafted, especially on the last round of drafting? Of course.
However, this seems to be much worse under the new changes. With the new changes, if both players shared 10 champions and each player banned 5 unique champions, it would leave both players with 30 unique champion selections. Now drafting has become even more RNG reliant. Does it help that we now have 3 rerolls, with 1 reroll per round? Sure, but they’re not free rerolls. Even if they weren’t free rerolls, Kabam should have at least increased the number of rerolls we can buy per day. Even then, that’s assuming you’re going to reroll.
Realistically, the players utilizing rerolls to the max are players pushing in the Gladiator’s Circuit. For everyone else? BG drafting has become much worse and my scenario above is the “best” case scenario. The worse case scenario is having to draft more than 30 champions, which makes drafting much more frustrating because of RNG. It would probably feel better if the deck size increased to 35 instead of 40, and you keep the 5 bans, but first impressions are these changes are not good
