Honest thoughts about the game right now

I am this close to quitting the game for good

Since the beginning of 2026, I have seen more and more players stopped playing

Both within my alliance and in Gladiator Circuit

Which explains why Kabam decided to shake things up in Battlegrounds with 40 champions in deck

It used to be kicking inactive players from my alliance but now there are no more active players joining, there are just inactive players who join my alliance after they get kicked from other alliance

More players stopped playing than ever before, recruitment is now impossible to do

I have to make do with players who are inactive bcos there are no more active players to recruit

I have never experienced such a negative environment before, there used to be an abundance of active players to recruit but now no

Players just refuse to play and don't care if you kick them from the alliance

There is nothing I can do about this and I tried everything already

I played since 2013, quit just about a year now. Always come back to the forums for moral support. Kabam is a horrendous company, not just with this game, need for speed had many boycotts like this one. They really operate like the CCP.…if you know what i mean lol.

The good alliances have no problems retaining invested players.

The lower alliances are turnstiles, people come and go.

I'm sure Kabam has their own statistics and they've stayed in business for a long time, so probably have a better sense of the game's survivability than you or I.

Even Kabam knows many players have stopped playing which explains why they are focusing on player engagement using the new engagement currency

I thought it was 2013. But have been playing since the beginning. Was a big part of all of the boycotts. I quit because kabam will never change. They used to basically be a casino , so this is basically legalized gambling. They operate off of divide and conquer, cater to new unsuspecting players, and the top 1%.

I thought the net marble acquisition situation would change things, but nope. And when the screwed up with their game engine, that was the end me. Bugs, ignoring their player base and making content boring, redundant, and bottlenecking progression. That's a very short list of issues. I played when there were no alliance chats, just in game communication, then GroupMe came out.

In my opinion the game isn't trying to take everybody along, they keep quickly helping the 1% and sluggishly attend to the 99%, they take far too long to implement things that doesn't always go right, for instance this 40 deck set seems interesting, but they haven't pushed the economy to accommodate the increase in roster requirements, there's not enough T4 or T6CC even T5CC is starting to be a problem instead of pushing the economy first for casual and mini grinders first before creating massive changes, they create the change first then sluggishly start to push the economy... This is just one example, you can put this in the collosium perspective and other modes but this seems to have been their pattern for a while now and it's getting infuriating

Welcome to the new direction of MCoC, invested and long time players now are picky about where they join. Prestige is the only factor that decides how much rewards you get in most alliance modes. AQ, Raid or NR, new AQ mode, and Colosseum. A 30k Player is going to look at the alluance and most likely not going to join unless they are at par with his prestige.

I know for a fact I’m not alone on this one but the 40 deck change has actually killed BGs for me. Months ago they started to address some things which I personally was worried about, issues I thought were killing the game for me at least, and so I praised them for it naturally. I thought things were getting better, genuinely, then Blue Marvel mid buffs and the 40 deck changes happened and now I’m back to being frustrated about some of the decisions they’re making.

First off, Blue Marvel and mid buffs because those two sort of go hand in hand. I don’t understand why they’re so terrified to make a strong science (this applies to every other newly released champ and buff from every other class not just science) on the same level as Photon or Spider Woman. Having a bunch of S tier champs in game (whether they’re new or reworks) is not going to kill the game, facing and using the same 3-4 S tier champs every single day definitely will.
This brings me to the second issue I have with the game, especially after the 40 deck changes which has amplified this issue even further, the game mode is starting to become boring and hollow. Every single match turns into who drafts the usual suspects quicker and **** skill, why? Because there are very little champs who are actually interchangeable in their respective classes and get the same results as the usual suspects against the usual meta defenders. Yelena hasn’t even been out for a year and I’m already sick of having to use Jean and DPX against her because Gentle doesn’t work and Cassandra just simply isn’t taking her out in under 60 secs unless you get perfect AI and she’s sig 200 with Assasin mastery maxed or something.

Anyways yeah, game’s going backwards again, might need to go for another break soon. I’m still hopeful that AI 2.0 will alleviate some of my concerns but if BGs and champ design don’t get any better I will most definitely need a break soonish.

They can allow 200 champs in BGs and people are still going to pick 95% of the same champs.

And this new AQ...I am not sure it's purpose from normal AQ. It is like someone thought of this idea while taking a dump.

I'm halfway to quitting, this game is getting boring. Been playing since around 2018. I still play but greatly reduced the game modes that I play, I just complete the daily quest and that's about it.

If it’s recruiting and maintaining an alliance that’s make you enjoy the game less than I suggest making someone else the leader and take a break from responsibility by joining an alliance that’s you can just be a normal member. I got burnt out running a BG as an office in a competitive war alliance. Took a 9 month break from the game and then joined a different alliance where I have no responsibilities and I am really enjoying it again.

When the game feels like a job it stops being fun.

When someone makes a complaint about another these days, I tell them the well has gone dry to replace them. Only because one other ally is the next to folding found a few recently.

I see kabam wants to take the general way we played for years and pivot to different ideas.

February just went by and no Carina's Challenges.

Keep daily crystal and energy but not much to use them on.

Raids chests outdated, only surpassed by outdated regular incursions rewards.

I can only hope they use this essentia to revive the BG ally mode so we can get back to recruiting people again.

Pretty sure kabam doesn't even play their own game. They are extremely lucky this game is so old and has no competition. This game would not have last past one year if it released today.

I just got my unit card taken and I still had a couple days left on it. It took me there to collect my 20 for the day and it just disappeared then said I need to buy a card subscription in order to get units but I already have. I just want the couple days I had left on it please.

I just informed my p5 alliance that I'm quitting. The only thing I still like about the game is story content , AW, and cool new champ designs. Before that was enough, but now it's like this game is micromanaging itself into the ground. Content feels designed around getting daily user statistics through weekly new content releases. While that would be cool, I find all the new content intentionally grindy to keep those stats high. More so, instead of letting us play how we want, we now have to rotate champ pools per content, and in the case of alliance colloseum, it rotates daily on a super tight schedule.

The game I loved seems to be gone. MCOC to me was a place I would go to when I need a break from life, to work on progress, play with any fun champ I want, and to plan out how and when I will do that content. Every month there would be a release and I would be able to see and plan when I'd get it all done. If I wanted to grind it all out in a week and take 3 weeks off, that was my choice. If I wanted to stagger it and do one day per week to get allt he quests done, that was my choice. If I wanted to, or was busy in life, and waited to the final week of the month to get all the content done... My choice. But all could be done on my own time table, and I never felt like id miss out on any of that month's rewards.

Now it went from monthly to weekly to daily requirements. And yeah, some of that daily content you can auto fight, but really is that the game design strategy to make an enjoyable and memorable experience? Nodes feel stale or new node designs feel out of touch with I would consider a challenging and enjoyable fight. Instead it's painful challenges and grindy. Before the challenges made me a better player. Now it feels like necessary grind torture to get the latest top-tier rewards.

Tl;dr The creativity and planning of content just feels out of touch with what is a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable game. Too much focus on making daily play to boost engagement stats, over making content we want to engage in. Intentionally micromanaging champ pools and releases means we have to play how Kabam dictates vs letting us enjoy playing as whomever we want to. All that together means MCOC is not the enjoyable escape from life that I was found. I'm better off finding something else to use for that destressing enjoyment.

Oh and bugs. It used to be 2-3 times a year a major release had a bug. If so, it was communicated well and addressed urgently. It was like 10% chance of bugs and 90% confidence game content was stable. Now I expect every new release to have issues. It's sad that that even includes all crystal rollovers now.

Waiting to complete the Kitty Pride track and then might step right back. No more spending. I agree with all of the above about it being not only too grindy but that it also requires daily grind and that’s not fun.

There might be days when I’ll want to spend 2-3 hours working through content, but other days where I don’t fancy logging in at all. Problem is you can’t do that and be in alliance at the same time and if you’re not in an alliance you start to slip back very very quickly because that’s where some of the biggest rewards are.

I continue to enjoy the game by playing modes that I want to play and collect new champs. No FOMO as I simply choose not to overextend myself if one particular mode requires me to grind and grind. Thankful I’m in an Alliance which allows me to do what I want but I do fulfil my obligations on AW or Incursions

Your pulling my leg, right? The causal experience is hard. This month's SQ is a disappointment for me I didn't take any champion from a 3-star to a 5-star on questing cause the mode was similar to Arena (but with a twist of getting a Goldpool, which to honest when u play him do u get an increase gold when winning a match with him?). The next this mode of squad builder comes back I hope there are two different verisons of Side quest; normal SQ threat lvl quest and squad builder.

Monthly Event quest, gosh, so targeting on Big Guns(strongest characters I have but I don't want to use them like all the time. Even Kabam Vincent couldn't save it with his monthly stories.

I try my best to do Daily Quest but now I'm realising I can just login 4 times a week and come on Monday to do the Doomstrike in Castle Doom. The Toad champ wasn't enough to keep me login and everyday or even complete all my super-daily-milestones.

AQ&AW, if its my Battlegroup day and if I remember its my day.

BG, they ruined it for me when they kicked me out of rank😑😑...

Incursions, its good when its not a Saga quest... Ultron didn't even have Glitch he still had his Evade mechanics.

Arena is a burnout trigger for me. I can't playing without risk a year break form the Battlerealm.

Solo Raid... Gosh it has its weeks of I can do this, its just a survive Champion and some random mechanics he has.

Battlegrounds when I saw the 40 deck I thought the way to win would be first to 3. Cause keeping the same selection method doesn't make sense and still picking just 7 champions while banning 5 instrad of 6 for the whole process. nun it wasn't going be meta. (I mostly play BG with a friend when we both online, friendly match which is why I still have a Deck unfortunately.)

I enjoy the Battlerealm when I bring in a full 5 champions on quest cause this a team game not solo unless in different situations.

I just want to go in a quest with my full Team of X-Men with synergies. Build Xavier's persistence charges, brawl with as many champions on a quest, map,line or whatever. But there is no such. 4-stars or 5-stars, not the Big guns (6- to 7- stars).
