Like the others said. Prioritize on Nico. If you ever get a Mystic gem she's a top contender for it. She's insane on attack and can be tricky on defense with no counter. She also shuts down the entire cosmic class and is a great counter for Serpent

If questing is your main thing, then definitely consider ironheart

For questing, you want to maximize your range of matchups, diversity across classes, etc.

Nico, Ironheart, Kitty, Ultron, Chee would all be very useful.

Do keep in mind Nico likes having her dupe and a good amount of sigs to finish fights quicker, if that’s not something you’re concerned about then she still has great utility unduped.

Also, if questing is your main focus, Professor X is absolutely amazing. No debuffs in his kit (besides Parry, which can be removed by Quicksilver synergy or White Mags), reliable Miss and Evade counter, Reversed Controls immunity, non-contact attacks, a Falter to save you when you mess up, and infinitely scaling damage. He also gets stronger the more fights you win with him and he buffs other Mutants on your team, too. I would highly recommend giving him a try, he’s probably my favorite champion in the game and I can’t recommend him enough.

I appreciate the info on Prof X. I’ve used him often to try & get used to his mechanics/flow. I’m not there with him yet but haven’t given up on him.
