Noted... But actions speak louder than words cause the direction the game is headed is not good, we all want it to go towards the right direction…
Not saying this would resolve all of the current problems, but these are some easy changes or additions that could probably be added within a few months time.
Add a new crystal that can be obtained from endgame content which contains 2026 ascendable champions. This could also cost for example 5,000 shards, and 500 shards are given per 7* ascension acquired. This gives people a path to obtaining new champion ascensions, even if doing so is extremely difficult. And to make it easy, use the same design as greater empowered crystals, just a different color.
Implement the Omega Pool mechanic to the Gladiator’s circuit. Allow people to choose up to 3 omega pool champions as part of their draft guaranteed. For example, let each stage of the draft contain either 1/2 omega pool champions until 3 are chosen. Additionally, omega pool champions can’t be banned beforehand. For the first season it’s used, put the top 30 banned champs from the previous season in that pool. For every season after, make it the top 30 used champions. Naturally, the omega pool will change from season to season. This may create some issues and might not be the perfect solution, but it’s something.
Add a tournament section for battlegrounds, as Liam talked about in his video. Make this tournament accessible to everyone in the GC, but with each round at least half of the current participants are eliminated. Perhaps a bracket is formed only after 16 players are left, or the 16 players with the most points are selected for it. Additionally, remove the Omega Pool mechanic from this mode to differentiate it from the gameplay of the normal GC. This could also be used to determine Battleground Brawl participants in the future.
We don’t know what Fortress Assault looks like right now, perhaps it is the solution for this. If not, we do need a different game mode, battlegrounds has become very repetitive for most people, considering when it was added 6* r3 was the top of the meta, and not much of it has changed since. Making changes to battlegrounds will help, but it’s not the only solution that is needed. While making a new game mode from scratch could take a very long time, adjusting Fortress Assault would not. If FA isn’t a competitive mode, I strongly recommend adding a competitive aspect to it, even if that is optional for bonus rewards.
I’m going to make a separate post about this soon, as it’ll take a lot more explanation. There is an easy way to reuse old story content and bosses for new end game content, that also isn’t just Carina challenges. This could be a temporary replacement solution to new content, such as a potential next Epoch or Necropolis, for months leading up to their release. It would give us consistent end game content to do while we’re waiting for the release of those pieces. This isn’t a replacement, because getting new end game content is more important, just an easy to implement temporary one.
Based on the feedback given from dimensional arcade, I think it’s safe to say that no one really wants to see this developed further. While I can understand wanting to expand the game into new areas, doing so with an external browser and gameplay that does not really resemble the normal is not a good idea. It takes time and resources to develop this, which would instead be put towards developing more things people are asking for. Squad Builder, while it was not received particularly well and would need changes, at least was not used with an external browser and contained MCOC’s core gameplay.
While all of these changes do not include everything needed, they include what could be used as a starting point. Everything I listed above would be possible to implement within the next few months. This is because everything stated has already been developed or created in a different way. New champion ascension crystals, that’s easy, RER rewards already exist and thousands of crystals have been developed before. Omega pools and tournaments have already existed due to last year’s Battlerealm Brawl. Fortress assault is already coming, just add a competitive ranking to it based on points or something similar/optional. Reuse content more often like Carina challenges, the engagement from this recent set should show that players enjoy content like this.
Ultimately, the important thing is that making these changes would start to show players that you care about our experience. Saying you are listening is one thing, but showing that you are is another. Again, I know at the end of the day a company can only do so much in a given time period, but these are just easy changes which would be used as a starting point. We play the game and want it to be in its best possible state, and are just trying to give suggestions on how to bring it there. We’re not asking for perfection, we know mistakes are going to be made, but if changes aren’t made that show a reflection of feedback, then it starts to seem like a lot of promises or statements are just empty. I really like some of the upcoming content and new additions that have come in the last few months, but there’s no denying that some parts of an additions to the game do feel stale, unfair, or unimportant.
Thanks for the input above though Mike, I do understand there are limited resources and time available.
Kabam is starting to rapidly lose its player base. I’ve played this game on and off for years, since 2018 I believe (maybe even earlier), and spent more than I care to admit. However, with all the recent decisions Kabam has made, I’m quitting spending and will be playing significantly less until Kabam course corrects. I wish I could say I am optimistic Kabam is going to improve, but I’m long past that point now
With all due respect, there have been about 5 CCP members who left saying the same thing. If it was 1 or 2 guys, sure I'd believe that. But this appears to be a pattern of Kabam not valuing the opinion of people they put in the position to help the game grow and be better.
If so What was the reason of this much complex ascension System?Kabam still can't justify the thing. If the goal was to give 7* more validity then why didn't they go on the route of 4* 5* or 6* Ascension System?
Personally, I would stop waiting for the decisionmakers at Kabam to change course.
Instead, I would start waiting for new decisionmakers to take over.
Certainly, the executives will still be pressuring the marketing and design teams to increase revenue, but executives do not play the game and do not care how it gets done.
If the marketing and design teams fail because their monetization schemes are stupid and alienate too many of the players, then new marketing and design (and communication) people will replace them and that is the hope for things to change, as far as the method of monetization.
On the other hand, if the current monetization schemes do bring in enough revenue to satisfy the executives, then that's all that matters for the executives in charge and nothing will change.
I am not a fan of 7* ascension, or at least the means to get them, but it it smart. If they moved to 8*, a ton more players would have left over that.
My issue with ascension is that it’s 100% RNG, pay walled in most cases and just plain confusing. I still have no idea how to get the ascension tokens for the “older” champs. I don’t mean the class tokens, I mean the individual ones. I may have missed it somewhere, but any information on that would be great. Like I’d rather not wait 3 years to ascend a champ I want to ascend.
They will release different pool of the older champions to "control the meta" (they are probably going to paywall ascension token for your favorite champions).
And there is no way to get ascension token for new champions except the valiant Crystal all translate to "we want your $$$$$$$$$$"
I don't see the correlation between that and this question, but the reason behind the 7 Star Ascension system is that it's a new level of progression that builds on your existing roster instead of doing a hard reset like a new rarity would be - it has been laid out this way from the start.
Frankly, there are always two sides to every story - and when either side is shared, it's often missing key details in that story. This goes for all areas of life; I'm not going to elaborate further on that, especially with situations from the past, as you mentioned. As for the present, there have been lots of lengthy discussions lately about the ongoing Battlegrounds format updates. Every day, there's a new thread on how Battlegrounds has grown stale and is boring. Battlegrounds cannot be iterated on if there isn't room to try different formats. Some of them will hit, some of them will not. Most of the time, a controversial update receives mixed reviews, but there needs to be room to experiment with a game mode that hasn't seen a format update in 3 years.
Can't even bring myself to do the carina's challenges right now. Only logging in for war at this point.
The only thing im confused about with bgs is that you guys literally created the best format update on your first try and have since refused to implement it in game and instead are running a bunch of shenanigans in the live game when people are trying to scrape together enough radiance for first appearance magik
Omega Pools were awesome, I'd love to see that make its way into the live game. Implementing that sort of system game-wide is a larger lift than doing so in a controlled environment like Brawl, though, keep in mind.
Feedback is always a welcome thing, but it's not the same as doing everything that's suggested. Ultimately, the decision is theirs to make.
game is dieing and heading downhill.
its prob on its last legs. Not the move alot of us veterans want, kinda tired seeing same mcoc videos all over again.
Its like we have to “accept” what they are doing to the kabam.
gona piggyback on my mcoc revenue post, they are gona lose so much money and just watch kabam try and get on community good side banquet 2026
My honest assessment is Mcoc won't collapse just bcos a few celestial players decide to quit the game
It is the whales that are propping up the game with spending
Say what you want about 7* ascension but if the whales continue spending den it's a financial success and the game will continue running
Mobile games only shut down when revenue can no longer sustain operations
There are telltale signs such as no more monthly updates with new content to play
It's obvious that Mcoc is still putting out new content every month so it's financially healthy
I still see new players joining the game even though they won't be playing at my level unless they spend and progress rapidly, some new players do spend and I have such players in my alliance previously
The new Spider-Man and Avengers movies are doing marketing this year and marvel related mobile games generally get to piggy back on such marketing and gain new players bcos ppl want to play such games before the movies are out, it's a symbiotic relationship (pun intended)
I have been a fan of the BG changes so far personally. It’s a good mix up from the same stuff. Many will hate me for saying it, but I like this current offseason meta. It’s nice not facing the same 3-6 defenders every single fight. It’s a fresh change for 1 season. I would not want this to be permanent, but every 3rd season maybe have something unique like this.
also, thank you Mike for having honest and respectful conversation. A very welcome change from some Kabam employees in the past.
and some people never leave the forums.
Which is completely understandable but since we're experimenting instead of using the omega pools it kind of leads to everyone going "where are omega pools"? and getting mad about it when the bg season changes to a 40 card deck instead. If that makes
At this point Kabam and MCoC feel a bit like your local drug dealer that the cops is getting close to bust.
On the one hand, if/when it happen you would miss your daily fixes, but at the same time it might be the final push for you to quit your addiction 🤣🤣🤣
