Collectives clarity

Does leveling or maxing lower rarities (non-captains) offer any benefit? Is there incentive or reward to ranking up or maxing out lower rarities?

If you put two accounts side by side, one account every champ 1☆-6☆ Rank 1, Level 1, but with every 7☆...will they get the same benefit as an account with the same roster of champions but that has every 1☆-6☆ max rank, level, and sig

I KNOW only the 7☆(or whatever highest iteration of the champ) is designated captain and gets the benefit while in fights actively using the captain.

Im saying how or is that benefit adjusted based on the strength of the subordinates?

Are we rewarded for all the hard work we've put into lower rarities over the years.

So, we may receive points from our "Captain" progression before till now or the collective will only reward who progress champions from May,6 onward?

If only after May 6, I will wait and put on hold my Champions progress.

I'm still unclear. Like you, I invest heavily in my lower roster, maxing out all 1☆ - 6☆ as much as I can. Every champion at every rarity, thats been my goal since Christmas of 2014.

I understood collectives were meant to reward the deep rosters and years of investment and grant value to outdated champions.

But after today's stream, the way I am understanding is if two summoners have the exact same 7☆ roster, lets say 200 7☆'s, lets say Summoner A) has ONLY those 200 champions and owns zero 1☆- 6☆ champions. Summoner B) has the exact same 200 7☆ champions, but also has every available rarity of those champions 6☆ and below...

Are you saying Summoner A and Summoner B have the exact same collective score?

You get collective points for the highest rarity of the champion you own ("captain").

So if you have a 7 star Punisher, you do not get points for your lower rarity Punishers.

But if you do not have a 7 star version of a specific champion, either because you're missing that champion or because that champion does not exist as a 7 star, then you would get collective points for that lower rarity version.

Sounds like they are leaving the door open to adjust the scoring in the future.

Mike gave an example of Cat Murdock.

If your captain is lets say Medusa, you need to max the 7 star to get full points.

6 star or lower variety no points after reaching certain level/rank. I believe 6 star its rank 4 which gives final points. Ranking 6 stars to rank 5 will give 0 points

Gotcha, so collectives only truly reward the 7* chase, and doesnt actually reward collection or deep legacy roster. This is just focused on the whales and pushing summoner preview bundles is all it is.

An account with every single champion in the game, (currently 1,847 as of this comment) will have the EXACT same score as someone with ONLY 7*s (254 as of this comment)...(give or take a few points for herc, quake, etc...)

So this does nothing to actually reward your collection, and does everything to reward buying summoner preview bundles, grinding featured arena placement, buying featured crystals, or falling behind and waiting for nexus crystals.

An overly salty take, but generally correct. What seemed like it would be a means of rewarding collectors is actually just a means of rewarding players with the best of each available champ only. There is still 0 value to obtaining and investing in lower rarity champions, or at the very least that value is immediately and overwhelmingly replaceable. Getting the new 4* champs out of arena will have minimal impact and will be completely meaningless when they hit the titan. Kinda just leaves me with the question - what's the point?

There are about 60 or 70 6-star champions that are not 7s yet.

We can get 830 points max for each of those 6 star champions if we take them to 6R4.

So someone who has all of these 6 star champions at 6R4 or higher will have tens of thousands of collective points that someone with only 7 stars does not.

So I don't think it's fair to say that this system only cares about 7 stars right now.

Yes it benefits the mega whales who have every 6 star and every 7 star including the new ascended 7 star champions from the featured valiant crystals.

But it also benefits the player who has or pulls a 6 star Immortal Iron Fist or has most of the non-7 star champions. Previously, such a collection had no impact on anything. Now those 6 stars actually contribute to something.

Thats a fair point, in my head I was just considering the 6* locked champs, not remembering that yes, theres still a number of other champs awaiting the 7* pool as well. Still disappointing that all the work max ranking and max sigging all the lower rarities isnt rewarded in some way. Collectives was the chance to really pay homage to the die hard collectors and I feel this just really missed the mark.

I really don’t mean this is a dismissive way, but why would Kabam create a system to reward you guys for what you already do as collectors? There’s some other intrinsic motivation for wanting to own every champ at every rarity and it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with traditional accomplishments / rewards / gameplay incentives.

Kabam, or any typical business, wants to pay for behavior at the margin. If they create collectives, they want the system to motivate (coerce) players to do something they wouldn’t be doing otherwise.
