Matchmaking is the same, you match against people in your same level. The only thing that changed since introduction of unranked is that Cavalier level players can no longer do ranked matches.

You have clearly interjected yourself into a conversation where you aren't fully aware of what is going on and what the actual issues are. This meta will make getting the blade piece significantly harder for players with smaller accounts. You can't rely on your skill to give you a chance, and you can't rely on your opponent making mistakes to make up for your lack of firepower. Some of us may have nothing to worry about, but a lot of players do.

Level is better understood as bracket, i.e. gold 2 fights gold 2, plat 3 fights plat 3, etc. The closer smaller accounts get to the blade piece, the more likely they are to fight an account that they are now even less likely to beat than before.

I noticed this too when I said you can't get the piece from unranked bg's and he told me "then you have nothing to worry about", like wtf is he even yapping about at this point? 🤣

Somehow my pointing that out to HIM meant that I'm worried about it, when the only time I ever play unranked is off season?

The game clearly was designed to be PVE. Unavoidable damage goes against fair PVP mechanics. That is why I said Mcoc was not designed to have a mode like BGs. Real time PVP would work if the game was actually intended to be a PVP game. In any fighting game, you are guaranteed to lose if all you do is block.
