Restart your game if you do not see the 50 gold reward.

The reward is just a placeholder, claiming it should auto-complete the rank up Collective objectives, which are the actual compensation reward. The in-game message needs a reward in it for technical reasons, so the devs had to attach a small token reward that gets claimed for the objectives to trigger.
