This is very true but there are many great ideas that kabam could try for some reason they just ignore everything and do their own thing that'll end up being horrible

There are currently 6,500 players who have already made it to GC.

When no one actually plays a game mode, Kabam removes it.

We saw this with incursions.

No one played incursions, no one posted about incursions, no one cared when Kabam removed it.

On the other hand, BGs is like the hottest topic on the forum, every other thread is about BGs.

A game mode does not have to elicit positive reactions to be successful.

Many times, in the corporate world, what many customers believe to be a flaw is actually a feature.

By flaw/feature I meant the fundamental nature of the game mode itself, which I perceive to be: humiliation vs. triumph.

Many players believe this is a flaw: playing BGs, losing to more skilled or more powerful rosters and feeling humiliated.

But that is actually the "feature."

As far as Kabam's recent experimentations with the mode: not counting health, giving bonuses for collectives, and even the offseason meta where all non-saga defenders immediately died: these are all part of Kabam's new monetization scheme of giving bigger benefits to the mega whales in BGs.

Which again, F2Ps like me might consider that a flaw, but it is actually a feature, one that Kabam is doubling down on for increased revenue.

I don't see a terrible unplayable meta i'm not even elder and i'm in Gc from first week.Just brute force the fights don't care for your health,only for timing

If you fight in almost same rosters then is what we say skill issue or no patience.

I wish this forum had a feature where one could mute certain words. I don't think I've ever read the words "skill issue" in a post on here in the context of helpful advice. It's always just a lazy and petty insult—not to mention a way of asserting some imaginary status over a player that's struggling.

One extraordinarily easy thing that could improve the mode is increasing the Victory Shield limit in the Essentia store. There really doesn't need to be a limit at all. Just let players spend their resources if they have them! It would be such a simple way to mitigate burnout.

I can attest that I have an underdeveloped roster with even r2s in my battlegrounds deck (due to not playing this game for 6 years) and that I just made gladiator circuit with a 7 fight win streak. It’s definitely a skill issue.

This is the second season of Whale Appreciation, and it’s again a joke for trying to progress; when you’re running a handful of R4’s at best and you’re facing full maxed ascended R4 and R5 rosters, it’s a slap in the face that a game with SO MANY Node choices is reduced to catering to pay-to-win schlock. No skill involved, simply the better roster wins. Up until the past season, I was consistently making it to GC, even made it up to Gamma once, and now I can’t progress past Diamond because I refuse to level champs I will never use outside of BG’s (Onslaught, Serpent, Spider-woman), and because the gap is an ocean at this point and Kabam refuses to do anything about the vast disparagement in matchmaking, or the multiple cheaters.

And before the apologists come for me in follow up comments; shut the hell up - some of us are casual players who love this game and don’t want to constantly be dumping money into this game in order to progress. I stopped spending here and there after the Rebalance Program was shut down, because it became clear then more than ever that unless you’re dumping hundreds of dollars into this game, you don’t matter as a part of the player base.

I’m Elder and I have r5’s and r4’s, I just hate BGs as a game mode all together. I never liked it, this meta just makes me hate it even more. Having to use rank materials on Champs I would never use annoys the hell out of me, would rather grind arenas and wait for the 5th Blade piece to become available for the 2500 units. Im all for challenges to earn certain champs, but forcing ppl into a game mode like this is insane. Congratulations to those who end up getting through it and getting the final piece from BGs, but to keep my own frustration with this game and game mode to a minimum, I would rather spend the 2500 units

I actually question this logic about "increased revenue." How does this result in increased revenue?

In VTs, what do Whales need to spend money on, victory shields? They do not have to spend any money to get through VT due to the fact that their roster is significantly more powerful than the opponent most of the time, regardless of 'experimentations'.
Could they spend to go higher in GCs? Maybe, but what exactly are they spending money on to do that, if they already have all the top champions ranked up? Are Whales spending money in BGs because they want to earn more radiance to get more rank up materials, or do they already buy rank up materials outright without needing BGs anyways? Getting radiance for Magik is the only thing they can't outright buy already.

"Whale friendly" BG changes really only encourages Whales to maintain their spend (based on customer satisfaction), rather than requiring Whales to increase their spend.

So in essence: Kabam's BG experimentations:

Pisses off FTP and low spend players from spending money both within BGs, and on improving their roster for BGs. That's a (small) loss in revenue
Makes Whales happy, but doesn't require them to increase their spend to win in BGs. That is a no change in revenue.

Net result: Small loss in revenue, and large negative to customer satisfaction.

Yes, the dude has 31k prestige. We were talking about ftp players with mid tier valiant rosters who have a chance at GC but the grind is just so unbelievably long in a skilless season, where we can't afford recoils. Personally I have 24k prestige, and I still have 6 r2s, 1 r5, 8 r4s, in bgs deck, obviously I am underlevelled, but I am diamond 1 atm, and there is a chance i can get GC. The people who get shafted the most are between 24 to 27k prestige, ftp with no recoils, good enough roster where the goal is possible but not a roster competitive enough to get through the VT without immense grinding and luck, even with higher skill than opponents.

This dude is 100% f2p, he had r3 champs in his deck. No legend titles. No recoils.

SF champs are geared towards endgamers, Or who are close to the end game territory.

I have 3 R5s and 30+ R4s as an F2P.

After coliseum next week I will get my fourth R5.

This isn't special. Many F2Ps are same as me.

I don't plan on using units on this week's sale event, but I will keep grinding and have about 40,000 units for the July 4th event, where I'm sure I will be able to get another 2 or more R5s.

Call me: F2P Whale.

If you do not spend on this game and do not grind this game, I don't understand how you can feel entitled to receiving the highest rewards.

You are doing everything in your power to be where you are. A lot of people just see R5s even 2 or 3 and start pointing fingers and calling whales.

Seen a lot of posts lately calling themselves developed rosters even if their prestige is not and end game players even if they are not even Elder. They autotically blame everything else instead of working to improve.

BGs doesn't make the money for Kabam. The devs definitely want chase pieces to be locked behind BGs. They know the game mode is dead garbage with only a few trash mobile game addicts still playing it.

This is the worst season and kabam made it that way putting the blade piece there. It’s a horrible grind and in the end I might get the piece after hour after hour trying but losing.
