The real problem with BG

People don't realize, this season's BG is easier than peevious seasons. In the past, u had to worry about 3 variables:

Ur health
Opponent's health
Time.

This season, u only have to worry about 2 variables:

Opponent's health
Time.

People complain because they don't see real problem, which is one that has been mentioned many times in the past:

Kabam's poor algorithm for pairing u with enemy. Right now ur matched w/ someone at same level: gold 1 vs gold1 or Vibranium 1 vs Vibranium 1.

What kabam should be doing is pairing u with someone of same roster level, not someone who's roster is way more powerful or way weaker than mine.

I would rather be a diamond 3 and fight someone who is Vibranium 1 but who's roster strength is equal to mine.

People have complained about this in the past but still no changes.

We’ve been through this so many times. No, no and no. BGs is an open competition. That’s its principle purpose and design. If you want to play against comparable rosters play the unranked mode. You want big boy prizes you have to play against the big boys.

We already know that players would rather have easier matchups. And we've been there before in the beginning of the game mode when UC players had an easier time making it to the GC than Paragon players. Roster/account/deck based matchmaking is a non-starter.

Unfortunately that is just the nature of the beast with BGs. At this point it’s really the only driving factor in pushing people to get better and bigger rosters. Why would people spend on rank up resources if they’re just gonna get matched against people with a similar roster either way?

They can try and make it “fairer” for VT and then open it up fully in GC, but that’s kind of the point of the two tokens for a win one for a loss system anyways.

at the end of the day if you want the top BG rewards you need to have a top level roster and top level skill, that’s the only way you’re gonna get those rewards from the start and forever more ll

I have a theory that the majority of those who can’t get their heads around the principle of BG matchups are US based. Those who appreciate the set up as it is are predominantly European based. The difference comes from cultural background and the way mainstream sports are set up in those areas.

In the US sporting match ups (nfl, nba, nhl) are designed to ensure every team has a reasonable shot at success (salary caps, drafting order of college players etc). Some teams are more successful than others but the system is designed to prevent dominance by vastly wealthier teams compared to relatively less well off teams.

Europe doesn’t operate like that. Football (soccer) is built on a pyramid system not dissimilar to BGs. As you get promoted up the ranks you’ll eventually run in to teams bigger, wealthier and with better players than you. You play in the premier league you play against premier league teams regardless of your available resources. You don’t get to operate in the premier league and play Rochdale, AFC Wimbledon and Swindon just because they have similar resources to you.
