Best Techs to rank 5?

I just got a Tech rank up gem, which is kinda the class I wanted the least.

I’m not sure who to take up to R5. It feels like Starky and Arnim Zola have very specific uses (BGs attack and BGs defense), and FANTman is not my favorite to play, so it feels like perhaps Bastion is the best option, but I don’t know, there’s a lot of good-but-not-great options.

I also already have a tech 3-4 so any of my lower techs like Jack, Ironheart, IDoom, Sam Wilson, etc can go up as well.

What do you all think? Who do you think would be the best at rank 5?

I just used coliseum cats to take Ironheart to R5. Imo, she's that good. You've got a lot of great options, I'd just pick the one that fills the most spots in your roster

Jack is better than Bastion imo. Reverse control immune against Jean Grey. I think faster than Bastion in BG.

Bastion is better if you need to counter evade.

For me was between Shuri and Ironheart, and I went Ironheart. The R5 increase in attack rating makes SP1 spam much better (I usually SP1 spam in general, because you can maintain utility while also doing decent DoT, but the R5 increase makes it better).

Additionally, in the past when I did Necropolis, I remember Shuri easily handling Cap Britain with time to spare, while with an equivalent rank Ironheart I either ran out of charges or just barely squeaked by.

For me, R5 Ironheart was the easiest decision I've had to make in a long, long time. Her versatility is awesome.

But, you've got a lot of good champs; and if you really like using Bastion, Jack, or even OG/Infamous Iron Man, they'd all be brilliant at R5 - go with your favourite.

R5 Sparky curb stomps with 10 poise charges. Bastion, Fantman, Ironheart, Jack are all great choices too. Not a big fan of Shocker and Prowler, but they are good as well. My pick would be Sparky.

Thanks everybody for your input! If this was any other class, I'd already know exactly who I wanted to take to Rank 5. I'm still finding this decision particularly hard.

It feels like my decision is going to be between Ironheart, Jack, or Starky. But my Ironheart and Jack are still just Rank 3 so it'll take me a bit of time at this point cause I used a rank 3 to 4 on my Ascended lvl 2 Sam and he's been a nuisance on Defense for me.

Fantman, Yondu, Iron Heart are choices i would say are best for r5 along with Cap Sam

I recently took my Sam Wilson to r4 sig 200, and have absolutely no regrets. He's been great in BGs for me - as an attacker. I know he can be annoying as a defender, but I've always used him on attack. He's great vs. Photon, Spider-Woman, Dust, and he's a decent Onslaught and Captain Britain counter.

If I didn't already have a Tech r5 and instead had my eyes on Red Guardian as my next r5, there's a very real chance that I'd take Sam up. For my next Tech r5, he's definitely a very real option. I really like what I've seen from him after his buff. I haven't used him much outside of this season of BGs, but I've liked him in it despite the nodes not really being his friend.

That said, the Tech r5s that I do currently have are Howard and JJJ, and I have absolutely no regrets about either of them. Howard, especially, is just a hoss. I have him ascended as well and…hooo, boy.

Thanks! I love doing them when a new rank rolls in. Either people "waste" their bans on my r5s or they leave those alone and concentrate on banning my meta champions. If it's the former, I have all of my meta champions left. If it's the latter, they soon learn why I ranked up those non-meta champs. I have won so many BG fights with my Howard, it's insane.

Ironheart r5 would be a safe bet, her damage output is massive and her utility makes her so much fun to play with. Hope you feel like you make the right decision with your tech r5 :)

Because, like I said, he's been a nuisance in BGs for me, and that's pretty important since I hate this freaking BG season.

Wouldn't have automatically taken him up to R5 because I'm still getting used to him and R5 is still extra precious so I'm not gonna rank someone just to rank them.

Still thinking it might be Ironheart, but I'm playing around more with Sam.
