Should I come back to MCOC after 6 years?

Hi all, I quit the game early 2020 as I was spending too much time playing the game. I’ve been considering getting back into to the game but am a bit worried that in the last 6 years the game has changed too much and my champions are no longer useful or that the game is too different from what I remember.

My questions boil down to, what has changed in the last 6 years? Do you think the game is at a good place right now, and do you think a returning player can enjoy and adapt to the current game?

Here’s a link to a spreadsheet I used to use to track my champions, would be interested in knowing if any are still relevant (or if stark spidey, ghost rider, and blade is still one of the best trinities)

I'd second thisI'd second this. Right now for story content. If your plan plan is to be able to compete in battlegrounds or lions war right away, then it's not worth it and I'd say just completely step away. If it's just to enjoy EQ and story content, then welcome back

You can easily adapt to the game. Your only roadblock currently is that you need to be Valiant. With the new PVE mode coming out next week along with both coliseums, now is the best time to start playing again. BGs is irrelevant trash that you can easily ignore. Don't bother with that mode.

Are you really missing this game that you want to come back after 6 years? Why dont you stay put where you are and enjoy your free time on other things?

Anyways, if you really want to come back, there will be a bit of catching up you need to do but you will be fine. The game has changed a lot with new modes, story and everest content but nothing you can't adapt. Focus on improving your roster and progression to Elder. Just be wary of FOMO which you will face a lot and it will force you to do content you may not enjoy doing, like battlegrounds, for example.

Seeing how they're killing game modes on purpose, paywalling the stuff that matters and releasing trash champs like Blue Marvel lately, no it's not worth coming back lol run and don't look back.

This might actually be both the best and worst time to come back, depends on you.

Best Time: if you left this game because you found yourself addicted and wasting too much time on it, this is unlikely to happen now. The game is so unbalanced, you might find yourself joining others in playing only casually or stopping altogether. If the inconsistent AI, over-commercialization, sheer amount of useless content, insane node combos and defenders with limited counters doesnt dissuade you to go casual, nothing will.

Worst Time: 2020-21 was arguably one of the best periods of this game and you seem to have left before it meaning you are missing a lot to catch up on. Post that period, Kabam kept trying to one up themselves resulting in this version of overstuffed slop. This also means that the game has updated more often and added more new content every month between 2023-now than ever before and so you might get overwhelmed if you want to catch up on everything. If you are ultra competitive, chances of re-addiction are high until you have caught up with others.

If you come back there are some big ticket updates. I don’t know what you’re story progression was like but chapter 6 has been made significantly easier - I mean it’s really been nerfed into the ground so it’s no longer anything like the road block it once was.

Chapters 7, 8 and 9 are all pitched at a good level. Challenging enough depending on your roster but very doable and nothing like the old chapter 6. There are plenty of YouTube guides out there if you get stuck.

Don’t worry about your roster. Champ collection and progression has never been easier. You’ll soon start picking up the new meta champs and you’ll get plenty of forum input.

Sadly the game isn't really in a good place right now, but you can easily keep up if you're good enough in this game. I made a new account on early february and reach valiant in a month, i think i'm a above average player and i'm also kinda lucky to pull some champs that is good for the current solo coliseum and can clear all the coliseum boss to get my first R4. The game is still fun for me tho.

I restarted 3 years ago after a 5-year break, and the game is in a much better place now.

If you don't compete at a high level, can control the urge to get everything on the first day, and are able to accept waiting, you can really enjoy the game without getting exhausted.

I have reached the highest progression level and obtained almost all the meta champions from Titan and Basic crystals. I'm only missing a few heavily paywalled champions, which aren't really important for anything.

I regularly complete all PvE content using revives. I'm in a chill alliance with no pressure from AW or AQ, but I still participate and collect rewards.

For BGs, I only try to reach GC to earn Radiance over the month. Once you've built a good roster, it's manageable. If you don't have the roster or time yet, just don't play it—it's not that important.

I enjoy collecting rewards and ranking up champions, and so far I'm having fun progressing at my own pace.

TThe Overheating Caused by playing the game on my device is making me think of quitting too. Haven't been able to grind arenas in a while. Lol

I think it's a good time to come back but like others said, it's better to start a new account. New players can get to high tiers extremely fast. Plus imo there is a lot more flexibility in what you can play, and the monthly EQ is the best it has ever been

unless you’ve changed your habit somehow and are able to limit your gameplay and not get addicted again, then the answer is no. The game is not for you.

there’s still too much daily stuff to do in the game if you want to do everything that any addicted player will want to complete. It will eat your time as before.

So if you are worried about losing your time again, then guaranteed it will happen again, and guaranteed you will get addicted again. There’s tons of stuff to do, and grind for..elder title, carinas to help you get elders, solo coliseum, alliance coloseum, side coliseum, bg, war, Aq, aq raids, aq meta thing, story mode, eq monthly side quests, . Etc. there’s a ton of really good stuff that’ll eat your time up. Equally there’s a ton of junk also. That will also eat your time up if you let it.

on the other hand, if you’ve managed to somehow control that urge and you think you can easily play for 20 minutes and then switch off, even though there’s a timer telling you that there’s a challenge due to expire in 4 hours time, and you’ve only done 25% of it…and you can happily let that timer expire, knowing you are missing out on resources to keep you moving towards the “end game, as it were….then you might be ok.

the question isn’t so much about the game.

It’s about you..

and only you know.

is the game still great even though there’s tons of **** elements?…yes…it’s still a brilliant game.

Can you handle the time investment? Will you be ok with it eating up your time and it resulting in you doing less of other things in the real world or other games / entertainment (film, Netflix, sports etc)? Those questions are for you :)

personal choice, mixed with knowing who you are and what you want, and knowing what will happen.

From reading your first line or two. I’d say steer clear.

i started the game last year in feb , played casually , then i joined a good ally, been having fun , i did spent on the game at the start to get some 7* its was really easy to progress thro the story ,lot of busted champs , i left the game in 2021 or so i only had 5* champs now i have r4s , so defenitly give it a try
