Moon knight lunar phases

I recently pulled a 5star moon knight so I started using the character more. There is something i haven't understood. How are the lunar phases decided? Is it according to the fight stage, is it random or have I not understood something? Cause he seems to be into full moon mode most of the times.

@Themis_xwsths it's based on the real lunar cycle of the moon. When it's a full moon outside he will be in full moon phase.

You have to awaken him for him to be useful, but it is based on the real Lunar cycle as stated by Stara99

It's kind of broken then. Fought in arena with my 4star and my 3star (both in the same team) and once he was in full moon and the other in waxing cresent.
