Dark Empowerment, synergy, question.

How does it really work???

I'm going questing with Dormammu 4*, The Hood 4*, Mordo 3* (maxed out, don't have 4* or 5*), Red Hulk 5* and Joe Fixit 4*. I want to test the synergy.
Is the chances, for Dark Empowerment, a total of 40%, or 2x chances of 20%?

These are the synergy I get -
Crime Bosses | Level 3
Villain champions gain +75% Armor and Critical Hit Chance.

Dark Empowerment | 2 x Level 3
Non-Robot Villain champions have 2 x 20% chance to Revive with 10% health when receiving a knock out blow.

Inseparable | Level 3
All Champions gain +9% Special 3 Damage.

And, please, I want an official answer.

If I replace Joe Fixit by Heimdall, I guess the mechanic will be...

Guardian of the Rainbow Bridge
All Champions except Heimdall: Once per fight Heimdall will intercede on your behalf, the first time when you would be knocked out gain both an Indestructible and an Unstoppable Buff which last for 2 seconds.

And then Dark Empowerment rolls kicks in if I still die???
