Arena events

So i am a newish player, i say newish because i only just learned about events and brackets and cutoffs after about 4months of playing or maybe even more.

I found out about the brackets and that beginner players are classed from day 0 to day 30, average players are 31 to 60days and vets are 61+. It is the time that you have been on the game and for me it seems utterly pointless to base it on that.

I have completely missed every bracket and i am now classed as a vet which is utter BS because i am nowhere near that level, it does not help that the game itself fails to explain any of this and i literally stumbled across this when looking for mastery guides.

So i now i find out i am a vet and think well can i compete? well the answer is uncategorically no unless i plan to dump my bank account into the game to even attempt to compete because i happen to have a low ranked roster.

Really what is the point of having brackets when you fail to explain what they are in the game and they also use a useless metric? You have to use Total Base Hero Rating/Total number of Heros because that is by far easier to manage and also more competitive because you can easily have alot more ranks/leagues for everyone but also those who are beginners actually do not miss out on events for them because they happened to be for more than a month. Plus those with the highest rating go against each other, they do not get to hammer some noobs low ranked roster and likewise those new to the game play against each other until they happen to have enough heros to go up a league which would actually tell them in game.

The current system is a **** waste of time, i play to get the basic PHC shards at best, maybe enough to get the 100%-80% rewards or whatever because i have literally no incentive to play more than i need to because i cannot compete at the top because i do not want to throw money at this game.

It is a good idea to have but poorly executed in many ways and tbh is there to help fund kabams wallets.

I can understand you're frustrated, and the arena tier thing could be explained better in-game. But everyone starts at the bottom and works their way up. If you need to be able to compete with the top players in the game right from the start to be satisfied with the game, this might not be the game for you. No MMO is probably right for you.

Wrong.

The top players have literally bought there way to the top, to compete and deal with the stamina you need to have units, deep pockets and lots of spare time.

If they want to do that fine but why cant they have there own league to compete with each other? I am barely 60k in Hero rating with 108 heros and only 7 4* so how the hell am i supposed to even try and compete with someone who is prepared to throw money at the game. Why am i not allowed to compete with people at the same Hero rating as me?

Is arena about who can grind and earn the top score? on one hand yes but the otherhand better be filled with money or you will not get far.

My problem is that time is used to decide which bracket you get put into, why? it should always be heros and ratings but because it is not i have literally no chance from ever obtaining anything from the top events unless i pump some serious money and grind for 3days and even then it is not secure.

I want to see a few more levels and change the way they put you into brackets but as your response has shown Kabam has picked this method because it rakes in the money and saps like you will defend it.

As the point for MMOs you are still wrong again, not all MMOs require such a money sink and decide the outcome, i play Planetside and it does not matter if you bought all the guns and attachments in the game with cash i can still gun you down 1v1 with a lvl 1 character. Now i am not saying that a 1* should take down a 5* hero but rarther a person with a hero rating of 20k be put against another person of 20k instead of shoved in with the vets after a month.

The incentive for areans basically does not exist, you might aswell pump money into crystals if you want to save time.

EDIT - This is not an MMO, at all, at best it is a single player with a PVE element and a limited PVP option.

Planetside, and Planetside 2, are MMO shooters. The balancing rules for FPS shooters are different than they are in conventional MMOs. If that's what floats your boat, stick to shooters.

As to the cost to progress in this game, you can spend a ton of money if you choose to do so, but it is not mandatory. I don't spend a lot, and there are players that spend nothing. Brian Grant, for example, of ContestChampion, not only doesn't spend money but he won't even accept in-game gifts because he wants to play that way. I'd say he's done better than average.

If you want to "pump money into crystals to save time" you can, but honestly I'd say half of my roster's strength comes from arena participation. And I started running them actively before I could put up two million points.

As to your quibble over calling this game an MMO, if this is just a single player game to you with a limited PvP option, why are you complaining about the large-scale competitive element of the game? Just ignore it and go back to the single player PvE part of the game that is not so limited.

As a player with 235 champs and a total rating of 395k, I can tell you this is a game that takes patience and persistence to get ahead. I have spent less than $50 in my 2+ years in this game. Starting out you need to more or less forget about the arena. Just focus on progressing through the story quest as quickly as possible to level up and get the completion/exploration rewards, and when possible fully explore the normal difficulty event quest for a free 3* champ each month. Maxed out 3* can get you through act 3 story and heroic difficulty event quest if you play carefully. Once you can do that reliably and have a decent collection of 2* and 3*, then start doing arena for the milestones and lower rank rewards and you will then continue building your roster with the occasional 4* from PHCs and eventually build 4* shards to a crystal every 2 weeks or so. Once you have a large 4* roster (20+), then you can start regularly getting older basic 4* champs in arena. For featured champs, you will need to build up a handful of 5* champs to have a shot.

Unlucky this is still not an MMO no matter how many times you repeat it and it does not feature large scale competitve elements either because it is 1vAI.

Now this player gets it unlike the other poster.

I currently do the Heroic parts for the monthly events but also try to 100% basic and normal and if enough time slowly go through heroic mainly for shards and ISO.

It just feels that currently in the game i have no events for my level or skill because simply put i have been here too long where as if i restarted an account and no lifed it i could do really well within the 1st 2months and literally cheese the game where as now i am in no mans land.

Maybe you are right, forget about areans and all that bollocks, just play unlock stuff do some quests and go for shards and maybe just maybe when i reach 40 i can try and compete for something.
