I Know for a fact that there are some players sped up their grind of the quest in an attempt to get the reward from this bug before kabam fixed it.
i am only a mid tier to low tier player and have no chance of completing this quest but i knew about the bug well before kabam fixed it due to people talking bout exploiting it.
So those that new and exploited it deliberately do not deserve better rewards then everyone else.
in fact if it was possible to see who deliberately exploited it those players would deserve a ban or something.
but it is not possible to know the mindset so there should be no punishments as such

I’m in top tier war. If I have the chance to rank up champs in then top 10 in each class versus some scrubby players for free from 2015, I would do that in a heart beat.
Even at our level, t2a is more readily available than in the past, but we are not getting 4 per month. More like 2 per month.
Our issue with this whole fiasco is that a lot of people were able to r4 a blade, korg, killmonger, etc... while the rest of us have to r4 some really mediocre champions.
I’m sure someone used this exploit on a brand new champion and laughed about it.

so player X has now just R4'd his duped Korg, R4'd their Duped Medusa and R4'd their New Aegon.
all which they didnt have the resources for yet.
Meanwhile player Y has his duped korg, his duped domino, duped emma, duped champion all sitting on the bench at r3 and needs to use these gems on his Cyclops, Hawkeye and Iron Man that are barely going to see any use oputside of arena.

We know Kabam has the ability to reverse the wrong rank-ups and also refund the resources used for rank-ups. That would just correct the problem created by their bug. Isn’t that the best way to resolve this?
As much as people feel strongly about this, doing the Quest and using the Resources earned is not exploiting a bug. Some may have had knowledge and finished because of this, but others didn't. It's not the same as if they continued to do the Quest and farmed more than their share. It's within the normal realm of doing the Quest. That's where it's tricky. Do I think some took advantage of it? Absolutely. No question. However, you can't universally say everyone who used it was taking advantage of it. Unless you can prove everyone had knowledge, and you can't, then you can't say they exploited anything. Unfortunately, the people who took advantage of it found a window. They decided to allow them to keep it. If that's their decision, confirmed by Moderation, then I don't see them going back this long after the fact.
Ahem.... refer to Profhoff’s vid that talks of an endgame player who caught the bug and ASKED him if he should use it to rank up Corvus. I doubt end game players did not know the gem was only meant for 2015 champs. I have seen direct evidence against that.
It would be an exploit in that case, and in most cases. The end game players do not live in bubbles, and their alliance do talk of rewards and who to rank.
Beside ignorance of the rules is not excuse to break them. Most are not asking for punishment to the players. Only for a reversal of the misused rank up, or changing the reward to any champ so all have the same rewards.
Last week we had a bug with Killmonger's indestructible and it was fixed in an eye's blink because it was benefitting the players. This thread with hundreds of people asking for a fair gameplay for everyone doesn't get a mod's reply.

Profhoff’s first video on the matter shows how much of an advantage it is and supported exploiting the bug. Though the bug was caught and fixed already by that time. It is a huge disadvantage.
A voice of reason would look for a common middle ground in the situation, which would be to make the rewards usuable on any champ and introduce the 2015 restriction on the next throwback mission. The subject of exploit has been mentioned countless times. If you're going to call something an exploit and hold every single person who used their Gems as responsible for exploiting, you need to base it on an actual exploit. Otherwise, all you have is people who completed the content and used what they earned. Some were aware and some weren't.
Nowhere in my last couple comments did I say I don't care. I said the reactions are becoming out of proportion with the situation. All this talk about game balance is not in proportion. How many people used the Gems? Not many I'm willing to bet. The people capable of breezing through the content that quickly aren't at a loss for materials for that matter. They no doubt already have stacked Rosters, and are fighting other people with stacked Rosters. That would no more affect the overall balance of the game than those few people Ranking their Champs normally.
The topic of whether people were aware or not is pertinent because outside of that, you have a glitch that was fixed and they decided to let people keep it. Not the first time they've done that.
