Rifts gave us a chance at 5*s without being online 24/7. A lot of t4ccs too.
Stark assignments are good but will never be as good as rifts

Hmm… I see your point. but I use the Mcoc Concierge (which is tied to the Mcoc Twitter to alert Stark assignments) and as a result I'm bagging an extra 100 4* shards a day so over the month I'll have collected roughly 3000 4* shards extra this month plus a BUNCH of extra 3* shards from the Spidervesre basic crystal and then another 4* from and ULT-SV crystal

My past luck with rifts hasn't been quite as good so please excuse my mistake for thinking the Stark assignments were comparable to Rifts
