So... what's with the chair?

So... I'm one of those people who actually reads the 'lore' for the Event Quests, and I noticed the prescence of a weird, creepy chair. Some people even have it as their profile pic.
So what's up with the chair? Is it just supposed to be for the sake of humour or is it actually a thing in the comics or something? please I need to know for the sake of my sanity
