Why is Prestige so important?

Everyone talks about prestige, can someone please explain why it’s so important in this game and not rank up champs that will clear content instead of just a dumb number? 🤔

Your alliance average prestige determines your AQ score. So for most alliances that aren't competing for upper AQ places, it's fairly meaningless honestly

It determines your starting difficulty in AQ, and the harder you start the higher your points. If you are not going for end game, or close to it, it really is not all that important.
