You don't need to be ranking 5*'s to R4 to hit level 38 or clear content. My alt doesn't even have a r3 five star and is level 42.1 -

it is nice but it's so little healing (especially at low sig) that it only makes a differnce if you enter a fight on like 1 hp and can now take a few parries3 -
