There are a few good counters for him. But I do agree, the unavoidable damage is just garbage. Black Cat, Falcon, and Namor are probably the best counters for him I can think of off the top of my head4 -

Those same accounts basically got a free pass to get to that stage, I feel worse for the accounts that are just barely above that cut off and have to struggle to even get to gold.7 -

They're both cheat codes and benefit hugely from the awakening. AA kills faster, Kitty is immortal if played right once awakened.4
