No, if you become cavalier the GM crystal shards calendar upgrades to a weekly calendar instead of a 2-weeks one. To get Cav crystal shards you need to become thronebreaker ^_^6 -

The damage from his debuffs is based on the opponent's base attack, so increasing his stats doesn't change the damage you will take ^_^5 -
